In January 2010 a Jasper engine was installed in my 2007 Mercury Mountaineer and it was running fine until around the end of October beginning November. I started to hear a knocking noise so I took it to the shop were the motor was installed and he heard nothing and could find nothing. I also called Jasper on 11/4/10 and informed Dave (est. 2526) of the noise that was coming and going and he stated that if it continued to take it back to the shop were the engine was installed. I knew I wasnt crazy because on 11/11/10, while out running errands, the noise started so I video taped it and called Dave at Jasper and he heard it as well, over the phone, thats how loud it was, and stated for me to take the vehicle back to the shop and they would take it from there. I dropped the truck off the week before Thanksgiving and was informed on Monday, 11/22/10, that Jasper authorized the Shop to pull the motor out and they sent out another one that arrived on Tuesday, 11/23/10, so I was without a vehicle for a week. What was really disturbing was that once Jasper got the engine they stated the upper half of the rod bearings were beaten out and a heat sticker on the engine was also turning red in color indicating my truck had been overheated. That is a lie if I ever heard one. My truck has never over heated nor run hot since Ive had it and if the rod bearings were beaten out who every did the thorough inspection at Jasper must have beaten it. After speaking to a Manager (Shane) at Jasper and he informed me that I have a warranty on this motor until January 2013 but because my truck has caused the engine to fail that if this happens again I will have to pay. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, then its not a warranty. I may be a female but Im not dumb by far. Even before the engine was pulled from my vehicle the shop was instructed by Jasper to do a series of test that all came back negative. If the engine was doing what they stated wouldnt something like that be detected immediately? The Mechanic was going to sue me for the labor that was done on my truck because Jasper did not want to pay him. I did not authorize the work, Jasper did, nor have I signed anything. After contacting the BBB and every organization and company affiliated with Jasper they decided to pay the Mechanic his money and I thought it was over. On May 10, 2011 in route to my Grand Daughters school with her cupcakes for her birthday my truck cut off in the middle of a busy road and I just made it to the middle turning lane. I paid to have it towed to a Mechanic that knew nothing of my previous ordeal with Jasper and he stated that the compression was gone in the engine due to either a bent rod, timing chain broke or jumped timing. I was livid so I then paid again to have it towed to another Mechanic Shop, again no knowledge of my issues with Jasper previously and again I was told no compression, rod issue or timing. I then yet again paid to have my truck towed to the Mechanic that installed the motor and the third confirmation was the same no compression. After contacting Jasper they stated they would just send me my money back for the engine and a core but they want their engine back first. They must think I'm dumb as the day is long. I will not release this engine until they send my money and core I am not a fool twice. I've already dance this dance with Jasper and it wont ever happen again. They even have the nerve to say they don't have any cores in stock. What kind of crap is that? The worst thing is that I am still making payments and maintaining insurance on my truck and dont have it. I am in the process of contacting the Attorney General's Office, an Attorney, the news media and anyone else I can think of. I wouldnt refer Jasper to anyone!!
