SPRINT BUYBACK PROGRAM SPRINT NOT ALLOWED TOO SPEAK TO SUPERVISOR, CSR HUNG UP PHONE, NO RETURN OF PHONES, NO COMPENSATION FROM SPRINT OVERLAND PARK,
2nd of Jan, 2012 by User787970
I recently switched to Verizon Wireless from Sprint because Sprint did not have coverage at my new residence. I "UNFORTUNATELY" returned my Sprint phones via the "Sprint Buyback Program." What a big mistake that was! As part of Sprint's Terms & Conditions, the buyback program requires you to have an "active" account in order to receive a credit. Needless to say, by switching to another carrier I no longer had an "active" account, and was told by Tim at the buyback customer service center that I would not receive a credit. I was not too pleased with the response, but I could have lived with it and gone on with life. However, further discussion with Tim enlightened me to another nasty little condition of the "Sprint Buyback Program;" NO RETURN ON THE PHONES THAT I PAID FOR AND SENT TO THEM! The "NO RETURNS POLICY" of the "Sprint Buyback Program" is conveniently buried about two thirds of the way into of the terms and conditions, a place I'm sure few customers EVER read to. It's in section 2.3 and states: "If Sprint determines that any device that you submitted to this Program is ineligible, lost, or stolen, then Sprint will not issue you a Buyback Credit, and Sprint will not return the device/s." Call me crazy, but it seems to me that a company that is bleeding money and customers would be more apt to foster good will among customers; especially loyal long-time customers like me. Not so with Sprint! During my rather heated conversation with Tim at the "Sprint Buyback Program" I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor even though I requested at least twice. And, I was ultimately hung up on. Admittedly, I didn't completely read through the "Terms and Conditions" section of the "Sprint Buyback Program." I mistakenly assumed that it was the standard B.S. that they all say. It never dawned on me that the Sprint cell phones that "I PAID FOR" would not only be kept, but that I would also receive zero compensation for "MY" property. So, not only do I have the pleasure of paying an early termination fee on both phones, which I had hoped would be partially offset by the buyback program; I am also awarded the gratifying experience of charitable contributions to a failing company. As I said, I didn't fully read the T&C's. Be that as it may, it seems that Sprint's "NO RETURN OF DEVICES" policy is at a minimum unethical, and is bordering on theft. Hey! Maybe they should call it the "Sprint TakeBack Program," or the "Sprint Smart Phone Theft Program." Hmm. something to think about Sprint! It could be your next big ad campaign! In summary, I have been a Sprint customer for many years, and up until this point would have happily returned if/when they had coverage in my area. Fat chance of my ever returning now! I suppose the loss of my business won't hurt Sprint a bit, but based on the reports I've read; Sprint has lost many customers, and recently reported a financial loss of $847 million. Seems to me they'd want to stop the bleeding. Anyway, BYE! BYE! SPRINT! You may not need ME or my patronage, but that works both ways. Besides, by switching to Verizon Wireless I not only have superior coverage at my new address; I also have a smaller monthly bill. It went down by about $50.
