I ordered a coffee table and a bed from this company in late December and was told that the shipping time would be between 6 and 8 weeks. I was eager to receive the items as they are important pieces of furniture and we needed them asap. When 8 weeks had passed and we heard nothing and recieved nothing I contacted the company and was told that the items would arrive any day. Little did I know that I wouldn't recieve the items until 14 weeks after I had ordered them (and I only recieved them because I emailed and called the company every single day and called Visa to notify them of non-receipt of goods). When the items arrived I unpacked them and immediately noticed that the marble top of the coffee table had a noticable crack running the entire width across. This was not a crack that happened during shipping, it clearly had been glued back together and repaired but it was still quite visible. There were other defects as well such as chips along the sides of the marble and stains on its surface including a visible ring from a coffee mug. I immediately contacted Island Furniture Co via email to complain. I did this intentionally so that I would have their response in writing. They did not respond. I emailed again the next day to say I was very unhappy with the coffee table and wanted to return it. No response. I then emailed them high resolution photographs of the damage and still no response. To make matters worse, a few weeks after I purchased the items, the headboard of the four poster bed I bought from this company cracked. This could have been due to the change in climate since it was shipped from Liverpool to Dublin so I did not pursue the matter further but I know if I did I would get no response. This company sells defective furniture which takes a lifetime to arrive and when it does you wish you'd never ordered it. I want to make sure that future potential customers are not enticed by the very low prices and that they understand you get what you pay for. This company is shameful |
