I went to J R Employment Agency also known as A1 staffing located in Bronx, NY 10468 and these people scammed me. They ask you for a fee of $125 dollars and then promise you that they will get you a job. The jobs that they have are jobs that anyone can find walking around the streets of New York City such as: Cashier, House Keeper, Dish washer, Waitress etc. If you ask for a job like let say in a hospital or in an office as a secretary they'll tell you that they don't have those available that they just work with a lot of restaurants. They will never have any jobs at any stores, only the famous "restaurants" which is what they focus on. So then they will tell you that you have 7 days to try the job and that if you didn't like it, that they will give you a new job. Now I know times are hard with the economy so I am writing this because I don't want anyone getting scammed out there. Listen to this, once you go to the job to speak to the managers you are told something completely different, and then it ends up that the managers will have to "try you out". So you have no choice on whether or not you are going to stay on the job, LIE NUMBER 2. Lie number 1 is the fact that they ask you for a fee for a simple job that anyone can get, nothing exclusive about it or in other words nothing worth paying them your money. So once you start complaining about it to them, they'll say they have to try you out. And the managers of the "jobs" that you are sent to will say that you are "not eligible" or that you "don't have enough experience" and that you have to fill in applications. In other words, you will never hear from these people again. Once you go back to the agency after job 1 not wanting you, they'll send you to some other (more jobs) places. Once you realize what they do, you will know that they are lying. Then the hard part, when you ask for your money back the manager DENISE is never there and they are not authorize "the employees" to return back the money but they are sure authorize to take it from you. Only "Denise" can give it back to you. When you start asking for your money back, Denise will always be on vacation. Once you contact her she says that you have to wait 7 days. For what? You have to pay them by cash only not by credit card so why wait 7 days when they are taking other people's money right there? So yeah you will continue calling them and tell them that you'll call the police and Denise will threaten you and tell you that she will never give you back your money. Also one thing, this people take advantage of illegal Mexicans, I have seen it with my own eyes. It has been months and this people have YET to return my money back. However, I just found out that if you call the cops they'll give it back to you and I am planning on doing just that. Also one more thing, I believe that the "businesses" that they are contact with to send you there are in cahoots with them. This people are working together to make believe that they will hire you, but they know that 4 days later they will kick you7 out of the "job". The jobs are not stable, they are not really jobs. STAY AWAY. Before I forget, do you want to know how it is that they find out those places to send you? They go on the internet and just start calling the places asking if they are hiring that's all they do. I have seen it when I was there and also just the other day an employment agency called my house asking if we are hiring, I guess they got my phone number mixed up. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND ONCE THEY HAVE IT AND YOU ASK FOR IT BACK THEY WILL AVOID YOU AND DENISE THE MANAGER WILL NEVER SHOW UP. IF THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY CALL THE POLICE. The manager has the nerves to tell me that I threaten her because I said I would call the cops, the news and everybody. She said shes a vengeance person and said she will never return the money, shes a THIEF, a criminal that deserves to be put behind bars. Take a look at this website and see the reviews. The people that posted are not lying please stay away. http://www.superpages.com/bp/Bronx-NY/Jr-Employment-Agency-L0105948030.htm#BPreviewContainer |

this place is a rip off, scam . joke etc you name it ! they prey on ilegals for low paying jobs that arent guaranteed, they charge you a fee of $125 send you to the job and when you get there they tell you "no im sorry we dont need anyone" or no im sorry no one called us to let us know, they send you out to at least 6 or more jobs until your fed up and ask for a refund, once you ask for a refund the owner denise mitchell gets loud and starts cursing you out for no reason (she hates giving refunds) by law your eligible to get your money back within 7 days, well not on in this case, once you complete 7 days and its time to get your money back she wont be in the office or shell tell you she forgot OR shell say come back next week and so on, this woman has been doing this for so long shes a snake and shes taking advantage of desperate job seekers . so for anyone looking for a job i suggest you go job hunting yourself or look up jobs on the newspapers TRUST ME ITS WORTH YOUR TIME, RATHER THAN WASTING YOUR TIME AT A1 STAFFING THAT MAY COME WITH A HEADACHE AND MORE PROBLEMS . this person is obiously mad, the employment agencys help you get a job by putting you at the door of the employer that needs an employee but the employer can still choose who they hire. you cant buy a job and the employment agency cant sell you a job.is very easy to blame the employment agency if you cant get a job but in reality is the economy and how much are you willing to work for. if you want to make a million dollars and you think by paying $125 you will get it is just plain naive. my advise to this person is not to use employment agency's if you still have the chance to get a job on your own or thru a friend or family member. maybe employment agency's are a last resourse but no body is going to try to help you for free. and just to let averyone know I have used employment agencys in the past and it was only when I was desparate for work, they got me a job for minimun wage wich I stayed in till I got something better thru the help of my cousin. best of luck getting your refund but dont expect people to help you for free in nyc. |

The employment agencies are a great resource and saves you time. Yes you can go out in the heat or the cold and walk, and walk and walk to places that might not even need an employee at the time. The agencies send you -at least- to places THEY know the're hiring because that's waht they do!! It is an office with employees and rent to pay, so don't expect it for free. I've gone to 2 agencies in the past and they got me a job. It wasn't in the first interview I got the jobs all the time.
About preying on undocumented people, all I can say is that is a good resource and some people do not have internet, therefore the agency is a good place for them. Agencies have existed for decades and help lots of people to get jobs. |
