Hydron Technologies
Hydron Technologies Brand Builders, LLC They are NOT approved by the FDA, SPF ingredients ins thier products Internet
24th of May, 2011 by User455148
Hydron Technologies is a company that has been around for many years. They manufacture and sell high priced skin care products online and over the phone. They used to sell thier products on QVC, they no longer do. Anyway, they include SPF ingredients in many of the products that they sell. However, you can no longer see the SPF listed on the labeling. They tell customers that the reason for that is that they recieved some labels that were misprinted. The REASON they no longer list the SPF is that they are not approved by the FDA. The products DO still contain the SPF even though they are not approved to do so by the FDA. I have tried to address this issue with them. I have also commented on thier website so that the consumers would be aware of this. They continue to remove my comments from the website. My issue is, why are they not approved by the FDA? And is it SAFE to use the products anymore? The FDA is there for a reason, to keep the consumers safe. If the FDA is concerned with the issue of Hydron using SPF in thier products, shouldn't we be?

I would just like to comment on this issue. Based on FDA website: http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation, we can read that "Cosmetic products and ingredients are not subject to FDA premarket approval authority, with the exception of color additives. Meaning, HYDRON Products doesn't need an FDA approval, as a contradiction to what you are saying. And if your concern relates to the SPF ingredients Hydron is using ("The products DO still contain the SPF even though they are not approved to do so by the FDA"), you may not be correct about it. On their label, we can see one sunscreen agent, titanium dioxide which is considered as a safe sunscreen agent on the FDA list: CFR - Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 Sec. 352.50. You may check FDA website for further review. I BELIEVE Hydron Products are SAFE TO USE because I've been using the products for quite long already, and I don't experienced any adverse reaction such as irritation, erythema, or dryness.
