So HP's shoddy product overheated and the LCD exploded on me, Sorry to spin a long tale but here it is, I have a probook 4520s worked great for awhile then suddenly it started getting ungodly warm and leaving red marks on my legs, and the touch pad became sluggish, talked to Online tech support and they sent me a new touchpad and palmrest assembly, that didnt do the trick it was still getting warm, Was online with tech support and they said they would send me a box to ship it to a repair facility, tech support told me I could remove my hard drive since I have sensitive data on it, before removing the hard drive I booted the system on to move files to an external hard drive and as soon as it started bios I heard a pop, the screen was bulging out and then cracked, I informed the tech support guy as to what had just happened and he made notes about it. I shipped it out via fedex the next day, i recieved a call 3 days later telling me that my system had accidental damage to the LCD and I would have to pay for it, I tried politely to argue my case that it wasnt damage I caused and that it exploded, she insisted that I caused it, and they would not fix it, I spoke to some woman with a I am god complex who apologized and told me that she was the final authority and that she wasnt going to fix my laptop, she flat out called me a liar and said there was nothing wrong with my system and that I must have broke the screen, She also told me that it might have been cracked from manufacture and is just showing up now, but I was out of luck and that within 30 days HP will fix it for good customer service but after 30 days its apparently HP policy to call their customers liars and insist that they broke the laptop. Since I refused to pay the 398 dollars quoted to me to replace a 60 dollar LCD screen HP sent my laptop back to me without fixing the overheating issue. When I recieved the laptop I noticed that none of the screw covers were replaced, the heat shield over my CPU and fan were missing and my Wireless card wasnt attached, I called HP, informed them of the damage and missing pieces, I reassmbled the laptop as best i could and tried to turn it on and all it did was make a high pitched whistling sound, it wouldnt power on,they sent me another box to ship it to a repair facility, I shipped it out, They called again to get me to fix the screen saying I broke it and they wouldnt fix it unless i paid 289 dollars I refused, my laptop was sent back to me repaired per the sheet a motherboard and power issue were fixed by replacing the motherboard. I recieved the laptop and noticed immediately that the LCD bezel was not attached and the LCDwas flopping inside its housing like a fish out of water it is cracked more than when i first sent it in, none of the screw covers were replaced, and my metal shield over my cpu and heat sink is still missing, No one in HP i talk to from tech support to executive customer relations to Americas Customer Satisfaction seems to care about what HP has done to me or my laptop, no one seems to be able to to help me, I have emailed the CEO, emailed tech support, emailed everyone I can and no one will fix my laptop, As of now I padid $1500 for a paperweight. I have had better customer relations from a cheapo E-machines netbook than I have from HP. I have been told by HP tech support that the overheating may have caused the screen to crack and that it was probably a motherboard issue. |
