I called a number of companies to price a new AC unit, and even went online to a website that links people up with service providers (ServiceMagic.com). I didn't pick the cheapiest nor the more expensive dealer, H/A was in the middle of the price range, so I thought I would be safe. I was wrong.. I made an appointment for them to replace the unit, and the gentlemen came out to give me an estamate. I was told that they could remove the old unit and put a new one in the attic, I agreed to the work and scheduled the appointment. When they came to install the story changed, now they couldn't put the new unit in the attic, they needed to install in a bedroom closet and add piping and duct work. I was stuck, because I needed to have the ac unit installed. I said go ahead with the work. A few hours later I find out that they put a hole in the ceiling, that they said they would come fix the next day. Before they left they also stated that they didn't not have the correct vents to go into the door, they would come back with them when they repair the hole. Weeks later and several phones calls, they return to my house to patch the hole, but once again no vents. I continue to call about the vents, but after several repeat visits to my house, the vents have never been installed. Within 4 or 5 months the unit freezes up, I contact the company, they come out and say it is the outside unit not the unit they installed. I told them that the outside unit is brand new as well. They said they weren't compatable, and tried to sell me a new unit. I said no I have had not problem with the outside unit, only problems with their unit, which was supposed to be new. 8 months since the new unit was installed, and it is blowing hot air, I contact the company to come out cause it is still under warrenty. The service man looks at the unit, that they installed, and says that it needs new coils, which is covered under the warrenty, but he is REQUIRED to fill up the freeon first, which cost $300.00. I paid the money cause the part would be more somewhere else, but I will share my story to protect as many customers as possible. I seen another report on this company, stating they wired a unit incorrectly, with that info I will be hiring another company to check the work.
