I purchased a sectional sofa from ashley furniture compnay 2 yrs ago. I also purchased the Guardian protection product to be applied for a stain protectant. This guarantee was supposed to be for anything food or beverage. I was told to call as soon as any stain was noticed (which i just did on tuesday). I called and opened a claim. I was told to call back if i could not get it out with just warm water. Today i called to report it and get the cleaning i was supposed to be guaranteed, and if they could not get it out, it was to be replaced. I dont have the paper work for the warranty, but they have my sofa registered, so she found it right away. So she tells me if i cannot tell them WHAT it is, HOW long its been there, the warranty is basically useless. SO I spent about 150 bucks on something that is pointless, useless and worthless. because i said I just noticed it (they dont know how long its been there) and because i dont know that its NOT food or beverage (which i know it IS because thats the only thing it could be). Its all a word game....I am sure if io would have said it was pasta sauce there would be a "no grease" clause even though its a food item. or if i would have said it was milk there woiuld be a "no dairy". i am interested in knowing how many peoples warrantys or guarantees are actually honored with them. As far as I am concerned they are a total scam. |

I have never had an experience like the one I had with Guardian. I purchased a structural protection plan for my couch in 2010. I contacted the company regarding a spring that broke. From the start of my call, you could tell the representative was trying to find a way to deny my claim from the numerous questions she asked from how the spring broke to when it happened. I did not realize there was a time frame on when the claim should be reported, so I was honest and told the representative I thought it was 2 mos ago. The representative asked me how it happened - I don't know...probably when my 5 year old was doing something he was not supposed to, the whole reason why I purchased the warranty. The representative made note of the details and told me to hold on while she processed the claim. At that point my call was disconnected. The representative never called me back, so I called Guardian back. The next representative I spoke to told me my claim was denied because I did not report it within 30 days. I asked the representative if she had any documentation indicating this policy was explained to me, she did not. I was not informed by the salesman of this requirement; otherwise, I would have reported it within the time frame. The representative also would not put me through to a supervisor or give me any other information. I am completely dissatisfied with the company's service and am appalled that The Room Place would contract with such a company. Too bad I didn't read these comments before purchasing the warranty. What a waste. |
