Back in 2008 I thought it would be a great idea to return to school and get my four year degree and GCU was my unfortunate decision. The experience started out well enough. Everyone I spoke with was kind and helpful guiding me through the laborious process of paperwork. That is how you get sucked in to the black hole that is GCU. The frustration began when my advisors were changed the first time. My list of classes was laid out and I knew what was expected of me to receive my degree. Then the advisors changed and I had to go through the process of explaining that there are two files of transferred credits that need to be looked at. That this class counts towards this and these classes were waived. And the list goes on... I realized at one point that I could add four classes to my load and graduate with a double major. What the heck I thought, so I asked for them to be added. And they weren't. This led to inadequate student loan requests that needed to be "fixed." Then came the time to take one of these added classes. The instructor was a raving, maniacal, witch with a capital 'B.' I told myself, "It's just one instructor in three years. The next one will be better." The next instructor was much worse. This instructor actually deleted my posts and claimed I did not post anything. When confronted about post and the grade I was questioning she had the audacity to change the grade and feign surprise at my 'A.' I had a screen shot of the original grade. It was this "instructor" that pushed me over the edge and helped decide to forget about the second degree. On January 20, 2011 I received a forwarded email from Scott Sander via my academic counselor Sharon Nash, saying I am eligible for graduation in April 2011. At this point I am taking my "last class" from a fabulous instructor. I submit ALL requested paperwork a return my attention to my final class. I finish my class in April and figure my diploma should be showing up end of May or beginning of June. May 19, 2011 rolls around and I receive a phone call and an email asking if I plan on finishing my degree at GCU. I explain that I have already finished and have submitted my paperwork for graduation. I then referred the caller to my academic counselor Sharon Nash. Turns out that Sharon is no longer my counselor and the person on the other end of the line, Marcia Ross, is now my counselor. So now I must begin the entire process again. So I call back requesting a manager or supervisor. The person that answers the phone, Kehiante McKInley, is very helpful. She sends me the information I need to file a grievance and have student resolutions step in. On May 24, 2011 I receive an email from Carrie Giordano in the Student Resolutions Office. I was informed that she would work with management on the grievance submitted. I called May 31, 2011 to check for an update only to receive a message that Carrie is out of the office until June 13, 2011. In the mean time I continue to receive daily phone calls from Marcia Ross about whether or not I will be finishing my degree at GCU. Even after she has been told that I am waiting to hear the outcome of the grievance. Even then I am not sure that I will finish at GCU. I should just transfer all my credits to a local college and finish at a reputable University. My next step is to pen a letter to all that have been involved in this process as well as the director of my program of study, Assistant Dean, Dean of associate Studies, and the College Dean. I am also including the complaint department for the entities the provide accreditation.

GCU doctoral program is a scam. I took over 11 classes and was given a 40 page final for the research class. The day before it was due the professor said it was cancelled and no final was required because 12 of the 15 students couldn't get it completed. I had submitted my assignment and was angry. The school never addressed my issue of this being a diploma mill which lowers the standard to retain students. I quit and now I must repay over 40, 000.
