Gabor Koltai Tax fraud allegations Gabor Koltai was arrested in November 2010 on major Hungarian tax fraud, blackmail, counterfeiting and organized-crime charges reportedly involving up to US$19 million and 35 never-completed feature films. He was remanded to the maximum-security Budapest Prison in near-solitary confinement awaiting trail. News reports stated he could get eight years in federal prison. Several newspapers reported he was arrested quickly, fearing he would escape arrest by traveling to Israel. The status of his film The Magic Boys with Michael Madsen is unknown, since the film has no release date. Gábor Koltai's father and co-owner of Wyvern Images and Filmsziget, Robert Koltai, said in January 2011 the film would not be completed or released for years. Moroccan-born British businessman Abi Sirokh is the UK head of Wyvern, according to news reports and the company website; his whereabouts are unknown. In late April 2011 Koltai was released from federal prison and placed in police-supervised home confinement awaiting a trial originally set to begin August 22; however, it has been delayed. On September 16, 2011 Koltai's former business associates in North America, Albert Paramito and Priti Ramjee of Paramito Global Holdings (PGH), were indicted by the New Jersey State Attorney General and charged with money laundering, theft by deception and conspiracy. Newspapers report they could get up to 10 years in prison. |

Gábor Koltai was released from preliminary arrest in April 2011. He is currently awaiting the closing of the investigation and intends to challenge every allegation regarding the allegedly never-completed films, which he says are false allegations. After two and a half years, the authorities have been unable to find any evidence to support their claims, nor have they asked Koltai to testify on his behalf despite his offering to do so on numerous occasions.
Koltai’s film ‘Magic Boys’, starring Michael Madsen and Vinnie Jones, is slated for theatrical release in October 18, 2012 in Hungary. Of the features and television series allegedly not completed, seven have been completed, three are in post- production and the remainder are in process in accordance with the production schedule established prior to Koltai’s arrest.
With regards to Abi Sirokh’s whereabouts, they are well known to all those who have business dealings with him.
As for allegations regarding shady connections to Albert Paramito and Priti Ramjee of Paramito Global Holdings (PGH), these are also completely fabricated and untrue. Gábor Koltai’s company was in fact one of the victims of a Paramito and Ramjee scheme. An American producer by the name of Harris Salomon convinced Koltai to invest 50, 000 USD from his company into PGH for the funding of Harris Salomon’s film ‘The Flower of the Fence’, which was never completed. By investing in this project, Koltai lost a significant amount of money, but also became indirectly linked with PGH, thereby damaging his reputation on an international scale. |
