We called gps. movers inc. to see how much it would cost for my husband and i to have them move us.. sharon assured us that she over estimated our weight to be 2235(319cf) at which they would charge us $0.40 cents per pound.. She charged us $ 169.00 depossit with us paying the movers $504.00 when they picked up the furniture. and then another $ 147.00 when they delivered our stuff. she had quoted the full price of $1,120.00. sharon reasurred me that it was an over estimate, that it would be that amount or less. the movers were to show up( we were told it would be gps movers inc that would show up). on aug.31st 2011 .at 10 p.m. and they did not call until 1 1/2 hours before showing up. the movers were not gps movers inc. it was United Relocation Movers Corporation out of 25 madison ave clifton, NJ 07011 phone 973-928-3111. they were rude , demanding , and had alaready started loading our things in the truck. They only had to load as everything was boxed taped and marked and numbered, except 2 tvs and a grandfather clock. we sold all the big furniture to keep the cost low. These gentleman took private calls and talk there language in front of us. we asked them to sstop as it was rude. they finished and then locked the truck and then told us we had to pay them $ 1,800.00 dollars. with us paying $957.00 then and there and another $678.00. when they delivered. we were beside ourselves. We told them no way. they said we did cubic ft it is cheaper. i said no way in hell. we had our paper work from the gps movers and i would call them . no one would answer. we had no choice but to pay and fight it... well the next morning we were on the phone complaining about what happened. we were put through to different ones to talk to. everyone took messages and said someone will call. no one ever called back. we finally asked for the manager and was told mike will talk to you now... Well mike made all kinds of promises and said the money would be reduced back down and that we would not owe any more money.. well our belongings were suppose to be here to us in fl. no later then the tenth of sept. well that came and went... mind you we have been on the phone with mike every single day and sometimes three our timesa day... he said it is coming, then we were told they could not find us in there system. we also left at least three dozen messages. well mike finally had it with us as he said jackie would call with the new price and our stuff was being loaded on the 19th and we would have it between the 20th and the 25th of sept. well jackie never called so i keptcalling her until she finally came to the phone and then she said we still had to pay the amount on the new paper work,i said no mike said he was fixing it to where we pay little to nothing more then another crating. (which should have only been 35.00 ) well she lowered it to $512.00 , iI said i would not pay it and she said they would not unload my things unless we paid. well we ended up paying and it was $520.00 not $ 512.00 and i started taking pictures, they said no you cant do that.i said oh yes i can and i willl as this is my stuff. they had our things mixed in wiith other people stuff. and my grandfather clock was tipped over and our cabinet had things stuffed into it. and all our boxes were crushed and ripped and i said what happened, the men said well you know this happens when things get moved. i said no they do not.our brand new box spring was torn up our brand new mattress was all dirty and had black smudges on it.They even stood on our boxes and other furniture to get to some of the boxes. and they tried to tell us other furniture was ours and it was not. so i am sure they weighed our stuff with other peoples stuff. as the company claims we went over 600 pds.. can any one help us. they need to be stopped.. |

If I could give them zero stars, I would. We actually weighed our stuff by having them deliver our stuff directly to a Uhaul that we weighed empty and with our stuff in it. Our stuff actually weighed 5200 lbs. They tried to tell us it weighed almost 9000 lbs when they picked it up, but I had a fit (as the truck they brought only carried 8000 lbs and our stuff was not even half way filling it). So, when they gave us the weight certificates, they said it weighed 7778 lbs. The problem with these guys is that they just go and steal the name and website of credible moving companies (in this case GPS Moving in Santee, CA) and quickly open up shop. Then, when they get too many bad reviews, they close down and open up again under another name. They told us lie after lie, still have not credited my brother's deposit despite telling him twice it was done (as I had him cancel his move with them after they picked up our stuff), and they make you pay CASH before they drop your stuff. Luckily we paid our deposit with AmEx who will back us as we have proof! But, who else is pissed off enough at their movers to bother renting the Uhaul and then moving their own stuff into their home. That cost us $400 extra dollars, but I had to know and it ended up saving us over $1, 000 in the end. Do NOT go with these guys. I am calling the DA in Richmond County until these guys are shut down for good. You should call, too, if they ripped you off. (718) 876-6300 |
