First House Financial NLErentals.info Hidden Charge for Cancellation. Too many telephone handoffs Internet
14th of Dec, 2011 by User950340
Found Apartment/House Listing through Craigslist. Contacted the number on the Craigslist Ad. That number got me in contact with an "agent". Filled out the information on the website for their services. However, after I was transferred to a Credit Monitoring agency, I became suspicious. The agent had never said anything before about needing to talk to a credit monitoring agency when I asked him regarding the process. Subsequently hung up with the credit monitoring rep, before giving them too much information. Called First House Financial customer support SAME DAY and requested that my service be discontinued. He said that there would be a $5 cancellation fee. I informed him that there was NO MENTION of the Cancellation fee by the agent, nor was there any mention of it in any of the emails I received. He said it was in the Terms of Service. I was not informed of any Terms, which seem more like Loopholes and Shady Business Practices. He told me that if I didnt want to be charged the $5 fee, I would have to write a letter to their P.O. Box. I asked to speak to a manager, he informed me he was a manager. I then asked to speak with his manager, and he briefly stopped and reiterated that the $5 fee was in the Terms of Service. I once again told him that there was no mention of Terms and he said he would email me the Terms of Service. Told him to charge the $5. Because it was either that, or wait an INDEFINITE amount of time for the Cancellation fee to be waived, ALL while being charged the $20/month fee during that time. Be Wary, Be Cautious. Don't use them or their services.

Yes I agree. These people are not doing business correctly. Don't fall for this. If they were making lots of money as a broker they wouldn't have to nickel and dime you for a measly $5 bucks! Plus they mega-spammed my local craigslist to crowd out the legitimate posters. I'm going to continue flagging their lousy advertisements and encourage you to do the same. I hate companies that do "business" like this and fully expect them to be out of business soon enough. I think they are selling names and emails and possibly phone numbers to all kinds of marketers who will contact you someday. Legitimate businesses don't operate this way.

I checked with the BBB and they have an "F" rating. They also have spammed craigslist in the Tampa area making it difficult to tell which listings are legitimate.

Trust your gut. These guys purposely do not make it clear what they are selling.

They say they are selling you a list of rentals, but in some, or many, places, this requires a real estate license.

Because this is a violation of state and federal laws, you should report First House Financial to your authorities, real estate commissioner, FBI, FTC, for fraud.

A lot of innocent unsuspecting people are being tricked into forking over $5.

Their Craigslist spam is awful, and they flood every damn city's craiglist rental pages.
They're even worse than those Nigerian scammers.

The sign-up fee is now $9.95. I called today because 4 ads posted on Craiglist in the San Diego area seemed too good to be true. Each ad had a different phone number, but when I called each number, I got the same company - First House Financial. Trust your gut on this. Any legitimate rental company does not need to charge an up front or ongoing fee!! I will be flagging every post of theirs I can find for the San Diego area!

Another thing I just realized, when you click on the "sign-up" area, it has a "disclaimer" - if you want to call it that!

But curious if this is a way of adding tracking capabilities to your computer when you go to their site?!?!
