I stayed at the Fairfield Inn to attend the Sade concert in downtown Louisville Friday night. I stayed 1 night on a busy hallway with a connecting room when I specifically asked for no connecting room. Upon return from the concert around 12am cigarette smoke was pouring into my room from the connecting room. I called downstairs they apologized and said they would take care of it. They did not!! I walked across the street at 2am bought a pack of incense and lit them in my room as well as turned up the ac to filter the room since the windows didn't open and there was no ventilation in the room. Problem solved!! This morning, Monday Sept. 12, I find that I am charged an additional $250 for smoking. Nowhere and at no time was a $250 fee advised of, especially when I wasn't smoking. When I called the front desk this morning and spoke with Brittany she wouldn't let me speak to a manager or supervisor about this situation. All she said is that she had pictures. I'm sure she has pictures of the incense that I burnt in the bathroom sink. My boyfriend smokes Black & Milds and did so walking to and from the concert. I don't smoke which is why I chose this hotel. But if this charge has anything to do with any remnents he left in the garbage cans then this hotel is totally ridiculous. I don't smoke and no one did in our room! Why would I check into a smoke-free hotel if I did?? Your practices are unfair and unjust and seem like a way to get extra money out of customers. I will send this same e-mail to everyone I know and every site possible to advise them of your hidden charges and ridiculous behavior of your staff!!! Not to mention that you placed an additional $200 hold on my debit, this is the only charge that I was ever advised of.
