I was solicited by Energy Plus Holding last June even though my phone number was on the "Do Not Call Registry". The had my name and the electric company I was using so it sounded like the call was coming from NYSEG's alternative company. I was told I could save 30% on my electric bill through EPH. Isn't soliciting a "Do Not Call" number against the law??????? When the first bill came I thought there was a mistake...second bill was worse, I called and was told that they could not find the tape of the solicitor that signed me up so they did not know what the offer was. I told them to cancel. They offered me a reduced rate and told me the bill would get lower when I finsihed my budget with NYSEG......I was STUPID!!!! The sent me a check for $152 which made the difference....and told me I would be on the lower rate after October. With a sick relative I was not home form October till the end of January....In January a $450 payment was made to the account so at my $153 budget the bill would be paid till the end of April. Well I open my bill and there is a turn off notice!!!!!! I call to find out what the h*ll is going on and find out they have been charging my account double the NYSEG rate. I called them and again they tell me they can't find the tape.....then Sara Hudson ( I think a supervisor) calls and tells me that they found the tapes and they are going to refund me the difference from NYSEG's rates-because "there were some things said that should not have been said". Well they sent me a check for $755 and then slam my account for $648-Budget Billing Settlement plus $212-Energy Charge. So now I have a whopping bill of $950-from a bill last year of $65 and I'm on a fixed income barely able to pay the $153 a month. They notified NYSEG of my canellation but "there is a 2 month cycle"....so what are they going to charge me next month?????? Where are the laws of regulation? My friends have businesses and they can't just add what ever they want to a customer's bill. I know my electric will be shut off because I have no way of paying this bill. Has anyone heard of a class action suit on these thieves......I would like to know how Sara Hudson sleeps at night?????? Stealing from innocent people....aren't there laws against SCAMS like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone that would like to get here number from me-I'll gladly pass it on!!!
