EMPIRE TODAY BIG scam ODENTON, Maryland |
17th of May, 2011 by User846655 |
I decided to have the carpet removed in my hall and on the stairs in lieu of hardwood flooring. I should have done my homework first and looked on line for complaints. The salesman showed up right at 7:00pm, he was supposed to be there between 5 and 7:00. He didn't ask the right questions about what I really wanted, what I could have or what I expected. I placed the order, gave him a check for 100.00 with the balance to be paid by VISA. It is impossible to get him to respond by phone. The installation arrival time was between 8:30 and 11:00 am Friday the 13th of May, 2011. They didn't call first and showed up at 10:00am. It was a team of 3 guys that spoke english, but spoke the entire time in spanish to each other. They finished up around 4:00pm, so I walked over to the hall. The floor did not touch the wall and they had failed to remove the existing painted molding. When I asked him what he was going to do about the gap, he said he would put down quarter round. I told him I was unhappy with the molding and wrote it on the form. I called and spoke to a customer service rep, who said it would be several days before I got a call about this complaint. Tuesday I received a call about my complaint from a Jennifer at 410-859-5582 saying she would send a new crew out Saturday to my house. She called back and said no, someone would come by to evaluate my complaint before a new crew was sent out. I told her I wanted the molding removed and the gap filled and matching floor molding put on the wall to the floor. She said someone would call me Wednesday, a Tim Egan. I think he is the installation manager. I received a call Wednesday from Jennifer instead, she informed me that what I wanted was impossible unless i wanted to pay the reduced price of a little over 300.00 for the new molding. I said "I don't think so". I told her I had called Visa and my Bank for a hold on the payment, she said I didn't have a leg to stand on since it is not in the contract. Since I know nothing about wood installation for floors, I blame the salesman. This is a crappy job and I'm very unhappy. I'm now going to have to contact a lawyer to get this job completed to my satisfaction because EMPIRE TODAY will not fix it. I am trying to find out who the owner or CEO is and how to make contact with him. I want to say, stay clear of this company and do your homework before hiring.
