Dollar Rent A Car double billed, hidden charges Internet |
28th of Apr, 2011 by User446954 |
I rented a car through Dollar Rent a Car. I picked up the car in Tampa, Florida and made arrangements to drop off the car in Fort Lauderdale. When I looked at my bank statement, I noticed that Dollar had double billed me. I originally prepaid the rental back in March for $270. When I got to Tampa to pick up the car, I had to pay an additional $305.00 for insurance ($36.99 a day) numerous charges such as "CONFEERECCHG" ($35.61), state tax, a prepaid "PASS 24" to go through tolls on the ez pass, Florida surcharge, and energy recovery fee. The mileage was listed as unlimited. When I called Dollar to explain why they had charged me $305, and $407.42, they could not itemize or explain this. The only thing I was told was there was an "adjustment" to my final bill because I did not drop off the car at the correct location. Apparently they had me listed as having to drop off the car at an off-airport site in Fort Lauderdale and I dropped the car off at Fort Lauderdale airport instead. So I had to be charged an extra $97 for this. Even with this explanation, it does not explain why there are two charges. One of the charges should be a credit and one should be a debit. This company has ripped me off big time and double billed me. |

The same thing happenned to me at FT-Lauderdal Dollar counter. I had reserved the car for 5 day for $182. When I got to the counter to pick up the car, the lady went through a long list of charges and options (many of which I declined). In the end, there were additional charges that totalled about $46 dollars which brough my bill to $228 (182 +46) or so I thought. When I finally got my bill, it turns out this $46 additional charges where applied on a daily basis, so the 5X$46 was added to my original $182 bill. So the combination of the numbers fluke and the persone behind teh counter not being forthright about the charges meant that I was taken for a ride... |

Me too, the same tinhg happenned at Orlando Int'l Airport Dollar counter . This Company offer the prices at internet whithout the taxes to be payed.
I've got rental by American Airlines indicate.
Beyond this, they plus taxes off insurances not necesseries, like Supplemental Liability Insurance, forthright plus taxes like Confeerecchg $33.89
Customer Facility Charge $12.50
Florida Surcharge $16.16
State Tax $15.18
Roadsafe $55.92
Energy Recovery Fee $1.49
Vehicle License Fee & Reg $1.56
If those taxes are necessery, is a must that Company Dollar Car describing into the site before or during the booking, not charged after booking.
It's a bad and no good precedure...
Best Regards. |
