Dish Network Biggest thieves in the Satelite TV industry Atlanta, Georgia |

I strongly urge anyone considering getting Dish Network satellite TV services to reconsider. They are, without a doubt, the biggest ripoff in the industry. Lured in by their false TV ads, I contacted them for service. I was told it would be $40/month for 100 channel package. I was NOT told there was a 2 year contract. I was NOT told there was a $6/month equipment service charge, nor a $6/month DVR charge. When I received the first statement, there was an $8/month HD charge, and I had plainly told the representative I did not have, and did not plan to get, and HD TV. The installer also never mentioned the contract term nor the added fees. I attempted to cancel the service, and was then told it was a 2 year contract, and there would be a $250 termination fee. When I complained about the service being regularly interrupted by rain, they said the equivalent of "too bad about your bad luck". I could not get them to remove the HD charge for months. They kept sending me past due statements for the charges I did not pay, and adding late fees. Finally I paid the termination charge and dropped them like a hot potato. BTW, the $40/month actually turned out to be $60/month, plus taxes. I have gone back to cable TV service, at $39/month for the same basic channels minus all the shopping and BS channels (half of their 100 channels were shopping, jewelery, and other crap no one will ever watch), and will never have satellite again. It was a con job from the word go. |

I was ripped off as well by Dish Network - It started from the day of installation with the installer using an existing cable from a spare bedroom to make his installation without my knowledge which is basically stealing, He also did a very poor job of installing the plates with one rooms cable just dangling out a plastic plate and the other plate so misaligned that it looked dreadful. I had to do the modifications personally to make it look professional. This cost me addtional money and time. The installer/rep also told me I would be able to get NFL games like Direct TV but that was a total lie! Hr also stated I would get a one year guarantee on equiptment which is another lie. I emailed twice questioning this guarantee and the football issues but both emails went unanswered... These people are just the absolute worst to deal with... I got on their chat line and was told that they were sorry for the inconvienence... twice they used the term inconvienence during this chat before I stated that this was much more than an inconvienence... In my mind they are just dishonest to the core! - JM |
