My experience is almost exactly the same as the other post by Casey. I got involved with Designer Home Tending in January of 2010. I rented from them for almost a year moving out just before Christmas of the same year. Like Casey, we were model tenants. By contract we had to keep the home show ready so a Realtor could show the home with a moments notice. We kept the house clean per the contract which was not easy to do at times. But it was the price to pay for the reduced rent and we were happy to comply. We were NEVER late making our payments and passed each and every "spot check" the company does, to make sure you are obeying the rules of the contract. When the home gets sold DHT gives you so many days to move out. This alone is very stressful if you find yourself with nowhere to go as was our case. DHT gives you a checkout list and everything has to be spot on before Jennifer will sign off. We have the proof that everything was signed off and given the go ahead to move out. The deposit is only supposed to take 45 days to get refunded. This is so the company can see if there are any outstanding utility bills or the like and then the initial deposit of $950.00 would get refunded minus $250.00 for DHT's fees. It's now been well over 3 months waiting for our deposit. Like Casey said, Cathy Cardenas has NEVER returned my numerous calls, emails or text messages. I call Jenn, the rep for DHT in Salt Lake City and she's to the point of filing Harassment charges against me. The company is a joke. Initially it looks like a great idea but there is a dark side to the company and it happens to be the owner. It could be a great concept and an ideal way for people to transition into a place of their own but Cathy has screwed the pooch by not honoring her contracts. Consider yourselves warned about Designer Home Tending, at least don't expect your deposit back. So I would suggest if you find yourself renting from DHT, trash the place when you leave, at least that way you'll feel like your money went to the clean up and repair instead of Cathy's pocket. |
