The CEO/President of Daybridge School of Olympia Fields (daybridge.org) William Spencer and his wife Kisha McNulty-Spencer (Principal) stand accused of mismanagement and deceptive practices that are having a detrimental effect on the children and families in Chicagos southern suburbs.
There is a history of employees who were not and still remain unpaid; vendors who have not been paid for their services; and parents who received no records for their student when the child was transferred to another school. Bill Spencer is known to have a felony filled record in the State of Missouri and he is now committing crimes here in Illinois. He deceived partners in order to obtain funds to gain access to the building that housed the Daybridge School. In April 2011 it was discovered that Spencer had not been making payments on the lease which began in April 2010. He led partners and other staff to believe that payments were made even some payments that were made that were not in full. In fact he made one payment and no more since. The bank (First Bank in Palatine, IL) had gone through the courts and finally, in June 2011 evicted the school from the facility located at 20080 Governors Drive. Spencer then moved into a local church with the preschool students and the summer camp. They were tossed out in July. Spencer claimed that the school did not receive state funds and had to close however, it can be proven that the state funds were provided. Apparently he pocketed those funds as staff noted that he would disappear for a few days around the time AFC funds were supposed to be distributed.Under Spencers leadership the school did not provide W-2s to workers nor the necessary tax information to parents in order that they could file their taxes. Once the school received its not-for-profit status, William Spencer rented housing in the businesss name for himself and a former administrator who was later evicted because Spencer did not pay the rent as promised. Other devious practices include (just a few and not all): * He has deceived contractors and then lied on them to their clients. * He maligned former students and their families because they have decided to remove their student(s) from The Daybridge School. * The teaching staff of the elementary school walked off three weeks prior to the end of the school year because they were sick of receiving bouncing checks. Bill Spencer lied on them claiming they quit because they lacked patience and were not good teachers. * He also maligned the abilities of former staff that left the school because they received no payment for their service. * He changes banks claiming they were deceitful and has moved the school accounts across at least five known banks (Chase, Fifth/Third, Charter One, and a few others) within 7 months. * He misrepresented school services to parents, (i.e. claiming there is a clinical psychologist on staff). * He continues to tell the community that the school has obtained a larger local facility that the school will be moving into. This building, the former Tolentine Monestary, was strongly considered but in March the owners left the table. Spencer continues to tell parents that the buildings sale is a done deal, the Tolentine Order treasurer said that they removed the offer nearly in March 2011. (UPDATE! - Seems the Tolentine owners were still considering a sale or lease to Spencer as late as Aug 12th. Looks like they need a Ripoff Report page as they told inquiring parties that they were not involved with Spencer. Money talks even to those who consider themselves holy.) * He falsified checks and documents to deceive board members, partners, and others concerning bill payments. It is the common belief that Mr. Spencer stashed away funds and would eventually go on the run. (UPDATE! - The scumbag was arrested 8/9/11! Read On.) * Furthermore, it has been confirmed that Spencer has convinced another group (or persons) to obtain a lease for the same building and reopen the school under a new identity while he hides and manages from in the background. * He has misrepresented his credentials and background. He was accused of forgery, writing bad checks, and stealing from a previous school as well as from a church in Missouri he pastored. * And there is so much more. UPDATES! - 1. Spencer was arrested for charges in MO. Seems he was a fugitive on the run! They got him and if anyone has a suit against him make sure to include him and the school in the filing. Can you believe that this man and his cronies have put out ads for The Daybridge School 2011 and 2012 school year?!? It will be under the Daybridge name or the Genesis Community Christian Academy,(whatever they call it beware of ANY new private school opening in the southern Chicago suburbs! It is clear to many that Bill Spencer is a con-man who needs to be stopped. By not shutting this fiasco down, Spencer is able to continue marketing and attempting to gain new families into his schemes. I worked at Daybridge in the summer of 2010 as a summer camp counselor. I have yet to receive three weeks of compensation. Mr. Spencer and his wife walked around like royalty and even lived in the building claiming they were sacrificing while workers with bills were put down as being money grubbers. I and others students were struggling to make ends meet in college. The school provided bad checks that bounced and messed up my account along with others.
Spencer used God and the Bible to lie, cheat and steal his way through the school and control parents. Kids hated the joint especially the Spencers. When parents began to question services Mr Spencer hid and lied. In the end parents began pulling their kids out left and right. In two weeks camp went from nearly 70 to 30 kids because parents had had enough. The whole thing was pathetic and I remained with no pay because I loved the kids. There is a special place in hell for the Spencers. |

| I too was shammed by this man and his school. Received two checks that bounced! My neighbor also has her daughter in the summer program and is owed a refund. I took my informaton and the checks and the note from my bank to Markham to the state attorney and they have set up a file. The funny thing is that the clerk knew about the Spencers before I opened my mouth! My neighbor went with me and she asked what to do and then said her child was in summer camp and the clerk rolled her eyes and said is this Daybridge? My God! They told us what to do and how to file and thanked us. The clerk informed us that a case in Ill is going to brought against them and that it was true Mr Spencer did some jail time and can look to do more. This is so crazy. If you are owed anything get to the state attorney and file because you have to in order to place claim on any funds they get out of the lowlife. |
