David's Bridal
David's Bridal they lost 100 $ Peoria , Illinois
4th of Apr, 2011 by User668860
Well I don't even know where to begin I had a few minor problems from the beginning but I guess I'll start when we went to try on Bridesmaid dresses. The customer service person didn't help at all. I found the dress that I liked and asked colors they came in. She told me they came in every color they had swatches for. So I picked out a few and thought about it. Went back told them what colors I wanted and they said the dress only came in 5 colors. No big deal. But I had to change the colors I had decided I went with pool and watermelon. Like I said no big thing. I asked when was the latest my bridesmaids could order them and they told me the end of April. Which my wedding is in june, but I figured they knew what they were talking about. So I go in with one of my bridesmaids to get fitted and put a payment on my layaway for my wedding dress. Sarah the representative was not very pleasent, but I'm not a bridezilla so I wasn't to worried. She informed me we could no longer get the dresses on line (this was the middle of march) we had to order them from other stores and pay 15$ extra for shipping. I was also told the sizes and colors I wanted might not be available. I still had three of my six bridesmaids that didn't have their dresses yet and Sarah told me I might have to go with other colors...which I was not happy about 3 of my girls already had their colors I didn't want a rainbow up there standing next to me. It took Sarah about 1 hour and 40 mins to get everything situated with that. Meanwhile I thought well while we are waiting I'll just make a payment on my layaway. So I went to the other register to a manager and tried to make the payment. She couldn't do it b/c Sarah was on my account on the other register (which was fine I understand). So I waited..... I'm calling all my bridesmaids telling them they need to get in here pronto before all the dresses are gone from other stores. I'm freaking out a little but as calmly as I can.... (still understanding of course) I didn't get upset with anyone at the store. I go to sarah who is still on my account and pay 100$ to her for my layaway. She takes my money and I ask to make sure that I only have 100 $ left, she said yes. Then I went on my way. I was a bit flustered and I didn't even notice she didn't give me a recipt. I had a lot of stuff on my mind..... THAT WAS MY HUGE MISTAKE!!!! My aunt went in later to make a 50$ payment to help me out. ( I didnt know she was going to do that how nice of her.) I should have only had 50$ left on my dress at this point, so she asked to make sure. Nope I still had 150$ left...... they had lost my payment. OF course they lost it, and she hadn't given me a recipt. So I called in to try to get everything straightened out. They told me that they had been having trouble with there computers switching things to other accounts. They didn't remember the exchange of money. (Which if they are busy I guess I understand) They would look it up in the computer and call me back. But the drawer wasn't over any. So about half a week goes by and I hear nothing. I called in and talked to a manager, she said that she didn't think they found anything. I told her I have witness (my bridesmaid), but it's on my side so I guess that doesn't matter, who saw me hand the money to Sarah. This is when she informs me that Sarah doesn't even know how to take layaway payments. She's seasonal and not authorized to do so. I will have to pay the 100$ there's nothing more they can do about it without a recipt. I'm just thinking it's a little fishy that she's not allowed to take layaway payments and she took my money and no one told me I had to go to a certain person to make that payment. ( I guess I'm just suppost to know). And that she doesn't know how, but it's my fault. I get them my dress, 6 bridesmaids, a flower girl dress, my sisters homecoming, one of my bridesmaids sisters homecoming and prom dresses. so I'm guessing that's somewhere between 2000-3000$ dollars if not more when we get the alterations. And they are screwing me out of 100$. I learned my lesson ALWAYS get a recipt. DO NOT give people the benifit of the doubt. I just wonder if someone else got my hundred dollars or if SARAH pocketed it. Being a bride is stressful enough I just wish I wouldn't have to worry about extra stuff like this it's going to have to come out of my wedding ring fund or my honeymoon fund and I really can't afford it. By the way the rest of my brides maids went in and ordered their dresses the next week from online... and they won't be in till june 8 wedding on june 18th lucky me. Wonder if I should even get the alterations done there. The only good thing I can say about the entire experience is Dana my Wedding dress consultant was AWESOME. Remember ALWAYS GET A RECIPT... don't learn the hard way like me.
