We sent Jason a picture of what we wanted our counter tops to look like and asked if he was able to copy the veined look in the picture. We wanted what was in the picture. He said no problem. Jason demanded an up front payment of $525 which we gave to him by check and then began his work. He never covered up the front of my kitchen island and sprayed color all over it. There was also some color on the walls as well as the top cupboards which he did not cover. When it came time to color the countertops, he apparently did not reference the picture at all and when my husband looked at them, noticed that there wasn't any veining on the island as there was on the rest of the counters. Jason assured my husband that all of the colors would darken when the epoxy was applied. When I arrived home from work, I looked at the counters and told my husband that I didn't see any veining to which he replied that Jason assured him that the color that he'd seen when Jason was first applying would return. The next day, Jason applied the epoxy. Guess what? The color did not come back through. In fact, the entire kitchen island is a completely different color than the rest of the kitchen. Plus, the rough cut that we had asked for looked nothing like the pictures I had seen -even on his website. I immediately contacted Jason by email and told him that I was disappointed with the way the colors had turned out. I mentioned the rough cut as well as the mess that he'd left on my cupboards and asked what we could do to come to a solution about our complete dissatisfaction. Jason replied by saying that he was shocked - that no one had ever been unhappy with his work and that he had planned to use our kitchen as an example for his website. He said that he knew that he'd made a mess of my cabinets but that it would be cleaned up when he finished up. This back and forth went on twice more and in each instance I gave Jason the opportunity to make it right. He would only reply that it was basically my husband's fault for OK'ing the color , the picture we gave was really only for reference, and that there was nothing he could do. The last straw was when Jason was rude to me. I informed him that his services were no longer necessary. I advised him to keep the check that we'd paid him but that he would not be getting any more money. We spent the entire next day cleaning up the mess in the kitchen. The next day we were able to really look at the epoxy as it was by that time dried. That's when we noticed the even bigger problems. The epoxy was not applied everywhere which left holes in the granicrete layers on both the surface and edges of our counters. When we peeled the tape off from the walls, we were unable to do so because granicrete had been applied on the tape and wall and allowed to dry. When we did get it off, it took part of the wall with it. It also took off the paint on my island. His coloring job also took the paint off my walls and island. Because I'd let Jason go early, I sanded the drip marks from the epoxy down myself. My husband contacted Jason one more time to tell him about the epoxy problem. He also mentioned the issues with the tape. Again Jason refused to take any responsibility for his actions stating that it all would have been taken care of when he "finished up" the next day. Yet when I had talked to him, he made no mention of fixing mistakes just sanding down, reinstalling our sink, and cleaning up. Per another installer, in order to "fix" these mistakes, Jason would have had to have sanded down the counters and reapplied the epoxy coating. We were willing to pay him less for a product that, while not completely satisfied with it, was at least finished. However, after discovering the shoddy workmanship and his refusal to take ownership and make it right 4 times, we stopped the payment on his check. Jason never sent a statement prior to our stop payment. He merely went to the courthouse to put a mechanic's lien on our property for the full amount plus fees. He never finished the job and wasn't finished when I addressed the issue with him. If I had not intended to pay him, I would have allowed him to finish, clean up everything, and then told him I was unhappy. Instead, I informed him as soon as I saw the coloring job. Please don't trust your counters with this guy. He is unprofessional to say the least!
