Crossline Stables Manager/ Trainer Emily Lock Dishonest, misrepresent, and manipulative. Avalon, Texas
22nd of Nov, 2011 by User745884
Do Not Buy a horse from this lady. She misrepresents the horses she sells saying they are more trained than they really are. These horses are green and yet she greatly over prices them 5000-15000 just because they are pretty horses. Strongly Recommend a pre vet check first. A lot of the horse she sells are broken ex-racers. Their legs are shot and yet she is says they are sound and fit to do jumping and cross country eventing. This lady is your typical no good horse trader. She will get a 500 dollar horse, put 30 days training on it and list in for 5000. If you take a chance on doing business with her, take someone with you who really know something about horses and training and they will be able to see right off the bat that the horses don't have the training to match the outrages prices. She is a good rider and can force a horse to look like it knows what it is doing. Then when you get on to try you will soon find out the horse is pulled and forced instead of trained. If she can't sell a horse she will take a different set of photos, change the horses name and revise the write up but not the price. This woman is only out to take your money. She has no concern if the horse would be a good match or not. Just sell, sell, sell. She can ride but her teaching is terrible. She regurgitates phrases from her own personal trainer or from something she read in a book. After taking a few lessons with her it was very clear she can't teach. Guess that explains why all she has are beginners. Take Great Caution!

If you've made it this far down the page to read the reports posted on this website then you most likely care to see the truth of this written report. This is Emily Lock here.

Many don't know me personally but we have a common bond, horses, and that is a wonderful thing. My intent of writing this refute is not to get back at anyone, nor do I wish to add fuel to the fire of this person's anger. However I am within my means of defending myself and will do so rightly.

Sadly, I was once great friends with the author of this rip off report. We had a common goal, plan and interest in life and hoped to go forward together on it. Life took us in different directions. Why we can't agree to go our separate ways and be at peace with the other I don't know. I have done my part and to this day as I write here, have never once bashed the author of this report to anyone. I still have not even now that I have read the bitterness, anger and jealousy that pours out of her. I have pity because it does nothing but hurt the person of anger and keep them from living a happy life. If there's one thing I could let this person know is that I forgive you for these words and as always, I will go on and not be pulled down nor bothered. Life is too short for sure!

So to those still reading this out there. In a defensive side of me, I'd like to note a few things: Of the horses I've sold in these recent years, I have yet to have someone come back and tell me of their dissatisfaction. I have never sold a horse that had a problem the buyer was unaware about. I encourage vet checks as it states on my Crossline Bill of sale. I could show you countless pictures of my horses in their new homes with new owners absolutely thrilled! This author of this rip off report failed to mentioned she has purchased 2 of these ex-race horses from me and yet still wanted to buy another of which she was too cheep to pay the price he was worth. He sold within weeks of my work put into him. That's not a sign of how horrible of a person I am, but of what quality of a horse I had. This same horse belongs to one of my current students and boarders and they are absolutely thrilled with him and will have him for life. He's one of the best horses I've ever re-careered!

The author of this report also failed to mention that her daughter, whom I had the privledge of training for some time, won the Grand Champion of her dressage division at the only dressage show she ever entered. She also won Reserve Champion of the only hunter division she competed in as well.

If I wasn't the kind of trainer that did not consistently keep my self educated with current books from authors as well as keep myself up to par with my trainer's knowledge (who happens to be competing and WINNING at the national level), then I'd be failing my students as an instructor and failing my horses as a rider. Like most, I haven't started with the best education in dressage and eventing as a younger rider nor had a huge amount of exposure. With my current trainer of almost 2 years, she has given me the foundational elements that most overlook when starting the beginner horses or youth riders. I am proud to say I stand behind my work as an instructor and trainer. As they say, "the proof's in the pudding!" It really is. I absolutely love working with my youth students and when I am riding at an upper level then yes, I will take my students further with me in their education. Until then, they are more than happy to go to a more experienced trainer when they have "maxed out" on what I can teach them. So there's one thing I might have to agree with this rip off author, and that is, "I am a good rider." Thanks! I take pride in my work for sure. My horses don't just look good, they ARE good.

So I don't make any claims to be some big-time rider, but have goals, and am working my ass off to get there. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I will definitely find them. My horse is not an upper level competitor, but we have plans on getting there and seeing how far we can go with much effort and late nights up training. I don't have the biggest, fanciest or well known facility, but that's not what I'm after. And you know what? It's mine and I can make improvements. I don't need fancy, I just need possible. I don't want huge fame or wealth, I just want to live life to it's fullest enjoying doing what I do.

So go ahead, read this rip off report. I'm happily exposing who I am for myself instead of passively sitting behind a computer screen spouting off garbage about someone because I have nothing better to do. Please, give me a call or better yet, come out for a tour of our facility and decide for yourself. I welcome that! I have nothing but pity for you, author. The manner in which this rip off report was written is nothing but a sign of this person's true character. This is the kind of person that would still find something to be angry and upset about even if you gave them a million dollars and everything they ever wanted in the whole wide world.

So I can read a silly rip off report by a bitter, angry and jealous person and it not bother me. I know who I am, I know what I do, I stand behind my work. I know where I am heading in life and I want to give 100% to my horses, business and to those little riders who are just as horse crazy as I was when I was their age!

This compliant regarding Crossline Stables and Emily Lock is false and the worst sort of internet bullying.

I am an existing boarder of Crossline Stables. I have purchased and leased more than one horse from Emily Lock. I have purchased training and lessons from Emily Lock. I have been riding, training and caring for horses for over 20 years and in more than 5 different states/areas of the US.

Emily Lock represents her training, background and services faithfully and truthfully. She vigilantly works to provide a safe, clean and a professional environment for horses and their riders/owners. She very truthfully represents the health, condition and training of all of the animals she rides, trains and sells. She always advocates a pre-purchase exam for horses she sells and discloses all health information.

There is one correct statement in the original complaint, that she is an excellent rider. These abilities also translate to excellent training and instruction. Often these capabilities can make you a target for those with little to no talent or skills within this field.

Too often in the horse world, arm chair experts carelessly slander and libel professionals like Emily, who are in this career with a passion and love for the animals that is rarely rewarded as it should be.

I urge Scam Informer to review this original complaint and demand proof be provided to back these false claims.

Talk about being unprofessional...I am actually sure it is YOU that does not know what you are talking about.

"She misrepresents the horses she sells saying they are more trained than they really are."...Being a buyer, It is your responsibility to know what you are looking for in a horse to buy. If you are experienced enough to buy a horse, you should be experienced enough to continue with the horse. Different rider levels obviously vary, but it is YOUR OWN JOB to find out if the horse you are trying is a good experience level for you. If you did not ask to ride the horse first while it was fresh, or go back multiple times to try your new mount, then it is hard for me to have sympathy for you. ANYONE who buys a horse that was not drugged or worn down first by the owner, and then has behavioral problems later, made their own bad decision due to lack of preparation.

"These horses are green and yet she greatly over prices them 5000-15000 just because they are pretty horses."...Are you aware of the different prices of breeds due to the sire and dam the horse foaled from? Certain horses cost more money, even without training, just because of their pedigree. This is why when foals come straight out of the dams, they sometimes are priced higher than a horse with years of experience. While I am not sure how applicable this is to Emily, you need to know that this statement is completely ridiculous. When buying a nice horse, training is not the only factor to keep in mind-there is also breeding and conformation. You need to be more clear with what you are looking for-looks or training-and if Emily was not providing that match then I am unsure why you even did business with her..?

"She is a good rider and can force a horse to look like it knows what it is doing"...Exactly what do you think that riding a horse is suppose to be? Obviously, if you are looking for a push-button animal, your price jumps much more high. In a business of buying and selling horses, one must do one thing to make money, which is obviously sell the horse. This is basic, and not hard to understand. When selling a horse, the owner selling is concerned with SELLING, not being your personal matchmaker. If you are too irresponsible to go through proper buying precautions (bring your trainer/an EXPERIENCED rider, get the vet check IN the clinic, ask to do a trial, take more than a COUPLE of lessons) then well...it is YOUR OWN inexperience of buying that is the problem.

"If she can't sell a horse she will take a different set of photos, change the horses name and revise the write up but not the price."...Again, I am not sure if you know how the process of selling a horse, or anything else, works. When something is not selling, you OBVIOUSLY have to change the advertising. Putting up new pictures or fixing the write up is just the process of updating. This statement was just so silly.

"She regurgitates phrases from her own personal trainer or from something she read in a book."...Again, your inexperience shining through in your claims. This is NOT something a trainer should be ashamed to do, to apply knowledge learned from a higher source to their own teaching. What is the point of learning if you do not apply it? This is just such an odd thing to complain about. In fact, I would love to go to a clinic/lesson where the trainer teaches nothing they have learned...please explain how that would work?

My relationship with Emily is slim, I have never ridden with her...I have only attended shows on her property and ridden her horses brought in to be sold through my old trainer. The experience was good, and while the horses brought in were green, it was no hidden fact. Anyone who hops on a horse and has experience can feel when a horse is inexperienced, and quite frankly...its your own damn fault you were too inexperienced to recognize this. In fact, horses can feel when a rider is short of experience, due to lack of balance and unclear commands, so it more than likely is your own fault that the horse wouldn't cooperate. Please stop with these slanderous and insulting remarks toward Emily's business, and the people that ride under her.

Dear Everyone,

I would like to shed some light on the person who initially started this "I have too much free time and like to bitch about people who don't give me what I want" session. Her name is Heather Nowles (figured since Emily's full name gets slandered all over the place, why shouldn't we all know the name of the person doing it, because that would be the none cowardly approach). She was actually at the birth of Emily's son and my nephew, she spent valuable time and hours with Emily and her husband. They were very close friends and eventually wanted to work together to build a business centered around horses and training. What happened you may ask? Heather asked that Emily cheat the guy she buys a lot of her horses from so that Heather would only have to pay a small percentage of what the horse was actually worth, and basically asked Emily to be the person she is describing in her "nothing but the truth" post above. Emily refused because that is who Emily Lock truly is, a person of integrity and honesty. I know this might seem like a campaign post but when mudslinging is involved it all just sounds the same. So the part I find funny is that Heather is writing a post to discredit Emily because Emily refused to cheat someone out of money so Heather could make a quick buck. Do you really want to listen to the opinion of someone that shallow and self centered, that would throw away a valuable friendship over a quick buck (by the way they are not hurting for cash). Just figured you should know when a scam artist is writing scam reports on other people.

I have recently had the opportunity to place my "broken ex-racer" as the complainant calls them, with Emily for re-training purposes. I was referred to Emily by one of my clients, who highly recommended Emily as an ethical, caring horsewoman who carefully matched horses with new owners. My experience with her has been all above-board and transparent. I explained my horse's personality, racing history, and riding experience to her truthfully, and she has dealt with me openly and honestly.

I would recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer, or looking for a horse to buy or lease. I know of one horse who was not sound enough for competition, and Emily REFUSED to sell him into a situation that he could not perform well in. He is quite happily a simple trail horse, with a happy, satisfied owner. What more can anyone ask for?
