After discovering I had a transmission leak on my 2001 Ford Ranger I contacted Cottmans Transmisson. I spoke to the owner. He instructed me to bring my truck to the shop and they will take a look at it. I brought my truck up on Saturday 12/17/11 to their shop and they told me it would be Monday before anything could be done to fix the problem as it was close to closing time for them. I said ok and please call me and let me know what the problem is before you begin work on it so I can find out how much it would cost. Monday rolls around and I didnt receive a call so I called them around noon to see if they had been able to take a look at it. I spoke to a man named Jim and he said, we have it in the shop now and we are working on it. He said it was the servo, it had a crack in it and thats where the leak was coming from. And they will have it done by the end of the day. I said ok great. Although I was bothered I didnt get a call to authorize any repair. I shrugged the no call and no authorization off as the repair turned out to be less then what was anticipated from when I dropped it off. Around 3:00 p.m. I went to pick up my key and to pay them for the repair. I wasnt able to bring my vehicle home at that time as I needed to wait until I had another driver to bring me up there so I could drive it home. I finially get there around 6:40 p.m. to pick it up. When I started the truck I noticed my check engine light was on and when I began to drive it made a clunk noise, and a low pitch squeal. I barely pulled onto the street and turned right around and pulled straight back into their parking lot. I parked it and turned off the engine and called my ride to come back and get me. I wasnt about to drive it while it was displaying signs of problems. I called Cottmans and left a message as it was after there business hours. I said what was going on and to please call me in the morning so we can figure out what was going on. At around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday the man named Jim called I again told him what was going on and that I needed something done about it. He told me to bring by the key and they will take a look at it. I took them the key and they openly admitted that they knew it wasnt displaying the check engine light and it wasnt making sounds when I brought it in. So they offered to run a diagnostic test on the computer. They told me it was the o2 sensor and it was falsely reading because they didnt unhook the battery before removing a part. I thought that made sense and got my key back and drove the truck home. I left the car I borrowed there to come later to retreive it with the person I borrowed it from. When leaving my house in my truck, to pick up the friend I borrowed the car from I again noticed the check engine light on and the noise was back. I called and left another message about the reappearance of the issues. I returned to their parking lot to retreive the car I borrowed and left my truck there. I again left a message, explainging what was going on and that I needed something done. I also said that I would put a stop payment out if the problem didnt get resolved and there is no way that these problems would reoccur if there wasnt something causeing it and that I know enough about cars to know that, this doesnt just happen by chance. I also said I hope that I dont have to put a stop payment out but will if I have to. Wednesday I take them my key again around noon and Jim tells me they will fix the problem if it is the o2 sensor as there is a chance it could have been damaged durring the repair to my transmission. I say ok I hope it is just the sensor and thanked him and went back to work. Later around 3:00 p.m. I called Cottmans and Jim answered. He procedes to tell me that it wasnt the o2 sensor and it was some valve that was causing the problem. I said oh no ok whats the plan for this he then says there is no plan we arent responsible we are not going to fix it. Now I am livid. I put up for 3 days with their run around. I then say what, excuse me? Jim again says we didnt do anything to your truck we are not fixing it. I told him I will be revoking my payment and I will be reporting them. He then says to me come get your fuckin truck lady and he hung up on me. I went to cottmans about 15 minutes after the conversation and got my key from Jim and he said they didnt clear the code and I didnt say anything I just walked out the door. I got in my truck and moved it over to the next parking lot in fear of them having it towed. Because at this point Im positive they would do that after witnessing how shady they ran business. I left the truck again and drove the borrowed car to pick up my kids and we drove straight to my bank where I disputed the charges and made one final attempt for retribution and called Cottmans and asked for my money back. Jim of course answered and denied me my money back. I again told him I would report him and I disputed the charge. I also told him to get incontact with the owner and have him call me so I could speak to him. Which Im sure he did no such thing. |
