I worked for Convergys through their at home work job. I had training for 7 weeks which was ok, then when it was time to get on their softphone to take calls for Directv the system kept freezing up. the trainer told me to do what they call a Brix test it is a Quality test. We used an Viop phone which we had to have an usb headset pluged into my computer. I did the test and sent it to the trainer. she called me and told me that I was lossing packet loss and it was to high and that I could not work until I got that down between 0-5% and to call my internet provider which was comcast. When I first applied for this company had to do a Ha Quality test and it was fine so they hired me. I called comcast and 3 days in a row had 3 different tech's out checking my internet. All of them said that I was not getting any packet losses and that it was at 0%. I then had a Manager call me and I spoke with him and I told him what the Comcast Tech's told me and he would not beleive me. He said that I could not work for Convergys until the packet loss was low. The thing was it all ways happened when I was on Convergys server but the manager kept blaming Comcast for it. I think it was wrong of them to let me go because they said I was having to many packet losses on their server When I was in training we were told that they would help us all they could and did not want to see anyone leave convergys, but yet they did this to me. Be careful of what this company tells you. |

Convergys is not a scam company. They are very large and been around for years. BUT, as an employee I can also tell you that they are by no means a "GOOD" employer. They have approx 75, 000 employees and provide mediocre customer service to half of the Fortune 50. One would think that by having such big clients and paying their employees $8-10 an hour, they would have enough left over for a really high-tech nice infrastructure. Not true. Half the time the A/C doesn't even work. It's always hot, the computers are so crappy that it won't even display the "client's" web site. We are treated like children, not given an email address, every web page under the sun is blocked (even ones with links from the HR intranet site). They start threatening to fire you from orientation, don't pay for holidays, NEVER give raises...ever... Which I find incredibly odd since we have to track every second we are on the phone so they can "bill the client accurately" and collect their $15 an hour from the client, pay us $10 and pocket the rest. I hate it and I'm trying to get out before I finish training.
BUT... again... not a scam, just shitty. |

Unfortunately, Convergys is a real company but its not a company of high morals! This company doesn't take into consideration that working from home is different from being in an office where someone can come to your desk and switch out a computer if something is wrong. They have no solutions no pay raises other than $.20 every 3 months until that stopped but the duties increased to make your phone call longer. Agents log on everyday not expecting that everyday could be their last day. The Fortune 500 companies should take a look at Convergys overall. If DTV treats their actual employees with respect and job security why can't Convergys. DTV employees are compensated for years of service not Convergys. DTV employees are paid for holidays not Convergys employees. It's inappropriate for Convergys to blame the internet provider for problems with service especially when Convergys offers customer service for that company. Is a conflict of interest? Convergys services over 25 companies and for them to blame a company for their of lack of service is unethical. Why do they get contracts from companies that they can't stand behind the brand!!! |
