I've recently had an Intoxalock Installed and have been getting false readings. The other night I had a nutrition bar (zone bar) and a retest came up shortly after and ended up with a .03 reading. This resulted into a lockout, horn blarring at work,(very embarrassing) and retest came up after I had to shut the vehicle down then blew .000 when retested. Customer service said it would cost $85 plus S/H and my contract states $75 fee plus $3 service fee. I've found this to be very distracting while driving, blowing too soft, not in time and the horn honks.This is by far worse than using a cell phone

My name is Jules, I work for Intoxalock and I would like to address your concerns. I apologize for any embarrassment or inconvenience you may have experienced in regards to this situation.

The Intoxalock, as well as any other ignition interlock device, will read any source of alcohol, not just an alcoholic beverage. Because there are thousands of products that contain alcohol, we strongly recommend that you wait at least 15 minutes to submit a breath sample after you eat, drink, or use any product that may contain alcohol. This recommendation is not meant to be a hassle, but to help drivers avoid lockouts caused by non-alcoholic beverage readings.

You are correct that your contract states the lock out fee is $75, is it possible the representative was including the cost of shipping and handling when quoting the $85? Regardless, I want to make sure that you were not overcharged. Would you please contact me at 877-777-5020 ext 2197 so we can review your account and make any adjustments necessary?

Please also remember that if you at any point feel that you are not able to comfortably and safely submit a breath sample while driving, the Intoxalock is designed to give you time to pull over or get into a safe traffic pattern to submit your sample.
