Compu-Electronics major scam artists! Sold me a |

We attended their expo in Erie, PA right after Thanksgiving. We were in search for an Xbox for my daughter for Christmas. We were told that they had a 'special' price for admission and we would ONLY have to pay $6 each to enter. When we saw the Xbox's, my husband asked if the systems were new or refurbished. The man assured us that they were all new and they didn't sell refurb'd game systems. We inquired why the boxes were different from those in the stores and he said it was because they buy in bulk quantities to keep prices low. I then asked what we would do if the system didn't work or had problems. He said to contact Microsoft and it came with a 1 yr warranty. He wrote up the slip as he and another man argued with each other in another language. I questioned the price and he said it included tax. He didn't break it down. I have since figured the tax with PA tax and OH tax and we paid $10 more than we should have. When we got home, we inspected the package. Imagine our surprise when we found a paper in the box telling us we had bought a refurb'd Xbox! It stated that we have a 120 day warranty with the refurb company (not the 1 yr manufacturer warranty we were promised) and that the system was restored to original factory settings. I got out our receipt...it doesn't state anywhere that we bought a used system. It had Manufacturer Only checked as he said that our warranty was with Microsoft. Upon setting it up, we discovered that it still had the previous owner's information on it and we had to go through alot of hoops just to clear it off so my daughter could set up a profile. The Xbox works, but it is NOT what we paid for. I don't like being lied to. There was NOTHING stating that this was a refurbished system and we were TOLD TO OUR FACES that it was brand new. We probably would have still purchased it if we knew it was refurb'd. It is just the fact that we were so mislead. I tried to call this company and you aren't even able to speak to someone. You have to leave a message and they will contact you. After reading all of the other complaints, I have very little hope of ever hearing from these people. They also state on their message that if you purchase something used or refurb'd from their company, it will clearly say it on the box. Ours says nothing but the specs of the Xbox. I also have a friend who went another day and was told the exact same things and hers is a refurbished system. I am furious that a company can continue to do business and scam people like this. It isn't right that they can come to our towns and sell us merchandise that they don't have to be responsible for. How can they continue to get away with this?
