Colonial Properties, Tennessee Cabin Rental Pigeon Forge, , Tennessee |

I originally booked a cabin called Spa Hideaway. Four days before I was to leave for vacation I received a call that the cabin had been sold and I would have to choose another. There was a big event in the area that weekend and a lot of the cabins were already booked. After hours on the internet looking for another one we settled on Heaven's View, which did not offer all the same amenities but was as close as we could get to being comparable to Spa Hideaway. We were basically stuck renting from Colonial because if we had gotten a refund it wouldn't have hit my account until the day we were to arrive and I wouldn't have had time to book with someone else. The cabin was very pretty and there is a great view, but here's how it ended up: We arrived at the cabin and immediately noticed the bed was broken. How on earth did Housekeeping miss that? The gas bottle for the grill was empty and the grill was DISGUSTING. Maintenance came and "fixed" the bed and brought a new gas bottle about 2 hours after we called. Then there was no grill brush. We purchased one and left it there. My husband's camera came up missing after the maintenance man left but the manager said "she asked the maintenance guy and he said he didn't have it" so we must be mistaken. I guess it grew legs and hopped down off the nightstand all by itself and just ran away. Like he's going to tell his boss "Yeah, I took their camera".....Give me a break. The toaster in the kitchen was a complete fire hazard. What exactly is that $65 cleaning fee for anyway. There are just too many rental companies in the area to even bother taking a chance on this one. We don't get to vacation often, in fact, this was only the second vacation my husband and I have taken alone in over 20 years and it turned out to be a disaster thanks to Colonial Properties. They gave me a half price night on Sunday for the mix up with the original cabin being sold but that was MORE than offset by the loss of the camera and memory card that just mysteriously "disappeared". This happened the first night we were there. We had not gone anywhere and no one else had been in our cabin other than maintenance. My husband hadn't even taken any pictures of our trip yet. We are more upset about the memory card than the camera as it contained alot of his pictures for work on it. That and the fact that Colonial and the maintance supervisor basically said we were lying. There is no help from Colonial. They just say "Sorry you were disappointed". Nevermind the fact that I spent all that money and received less than poor service. The road that this cabin is on is terrible. I will make sure to post this review in as many places as possible to save others from making the mistake of choosing Colonial Properties. The girl I spoke with on the phone was very nice (Megan). I guess they try to justify their poor service by making sure the person you speak with is nice no matter what. The Pigeon Forge area is very nice and there is lots to do. Just make sure to book your vacation with any company other than COLONIAL PROPERTIES. You will get ripped off on your stay. If you have to call for maintenace, and you probably will, watch your belongings closely! |
