I came across Chuck Bluemel the contractor through a referral. I should have done my due diligence and checked this guy out but this was first time fixing up my home. Now after some research I find out that everything this slick Willie spouted was false. He told me that he has been a contractor for many years but later I found out that he has only had his license since 11/2009. As the worked progressed, I was upset how slow the demolition was taking. He was doing the demo himself and charging me $50 per hour for the work. I told him that this is way too much for this type of work. Red flag 1: He said it would be cheaper to pay him hourly-false. Red flag 2: Permits He told me not to worry about permits it would only cost me more money. That mistake cost me a $4000 heater. He connected my vent from my dryer to the central heater. The lent build up could have started a fire and it destroyed my heater. Red flag 3: working from his company location. Many times I would stop by the house to see how the work was going and I he wasn’t there. I questioned him about the hourly charges and he told me that he was working from his company office. I later figured out that there was no company office. Red flag 4: Every time that I questioned him about how much I was paying and how slow the work was going, he would blame me. I felt like that I was stuck; I needed to get the work done but the few contractors I contacted didn’t want to finish what he started. Red flag 5: I could keep going on but enough is enough. When I moved in I noticed many problems with his poor workmanship. After several attempts I stopped trying to get him to finish the work. This is my first experience at buying a home and remodeling it and he took advantage of me. I highly recommend that if you see this guy run the other way. |
