Celebrity Actors Camp Possibly aka THE (Tay) Phony |

This outfit advertized on the radio about a wonderful opportunity for children to "audition" for acting jobs. With their roster of tv stars from Disney, they led parents to believe that their children were actually vying for a Disney spot. *I* assumed (naughty me) that they were looking for extras for a film to be shot in the Spokane area! I don't believe *now* that Disney has anything to do with this... I would hope not anyway.
We arrived at the designated spot, cleverly held at the INB performing arts center in Spokane with our daughter in tow. I was very surprised that we were all (lots of hopeful parents and theirexcited children) made to sit and listen to pep talks about perseverance, how hard it is to break in to acting, how actors are never "discovered" any more blah blah BLAH!Then what were we doing there? This didn't sound like an "audition" at all. A red flag went up on our way in because the signs all said "Celebrity Actors Camp." Actors CAMP??? I should have walked out then... Pep talks about how stupid we all were (paraphrasing) for believing the radio ads were another red flag.
When said pep talks were done (kind of reminded me of those "free vacation" offers at the pizza parlors back in the day. You know the ones where they promised you a prize if you sat through their sales pitch to get you to buy timeshares or campground memberships..) we finally got lined upto get the brochurefeaturing the PRICE of this wonderful opportunity, and another pep talk about "supporting our childrens dreams!" Remember Celebrity Actors Camp wasn't advertizing for TRAINING,acting school, symposiums on acting, or anything else that cost thousands of dollars, they were advertizing "auditions." The "auditions" were to determine ability to pay as far as I could tell. "Auditions" my A$$!
I still can't figure out where Phil Lewis of Mr. Moseby on Suite Life on Deck fame fitted in to the scheme of things. They must have paid him a fortune to come here in personand try totalk hopeful parents into shelling out thousands of dollars for this "opportunity." Doesn't he make enough money on the TV show?
Because our daughter doesn't recognize scams, we went through with the "audition." Of coursePhil Lewisjust loved her! (uh huh) They wanted her back so long as we could pay them between $1,750 and $5,500 dollars (in cash, no checks;another red flag) for it. They were absolutely rude and nasty when we told them we couldn't pay. (We weren't there to look into PAYING for any services, remember it was an audition to see if they would pay my daughter to appear in a Disney production! We were TRICKED into attending.) The "Z" lady wrote a big X through the paperwork with a flourish while my devastated daughter observed. Nasty! So much for loving children. They kept the head shot for their garbage can no doubt. They have not answered my e-mail to them as yet. Big surprise right?
At the very least this company, if it is one, is using deceptive advertizing tactics to get people in there and then usinggullible children to coerce the parents into paying. Since there is NOTHING on this company good, bad or indifferent is must be a fly-by-night outfit. Their ads say nothing about what their true purpose is... This is not an "audition" by any stretch of meaning. It's a ploy to sell you something. They should be up front about what it is that they are after.
If I was lookingto spend $5,500 dollars on acting class, we would already have found a local place to do just that. And the $5,500 is the STARTING POINT. Then there is the "invitation only Summer Camp" which is at least $3,000 more! It was like pulling teeth to find this out. THEN there was a "Pilot Camp" also by invitaion only, which God knows how much it is. They even have a special hotel where you can stay while you are playing around with this; starting at $99 per night! I assume "invitation only" means that your bank account is fat enough to cover it, not that your child is any good at acting. Pictures are included and makeup, but not PRINTS or hair! Or you can pay $600 for a couple of snapsand some makeup if you don't buy the $5,500 course.
In researching this company, I came across another company called THE pronounced Tay. The whole scam is disturbingly familiar to this one including one person who appears as a benefactor in both THE and Celebrity Actors Camp. His name is David Delouise from Wizards of Waverly Place. His father was actor Dom Delouise. Doesn't he have enough money without having to prey on childrens hopes and dreams either? Do these people really NEED the thousands of dollars they are bilking parents out of?
Anyway since then some reputable people have assured me that this is indeed a scam. Hollywood doesn't operate the way that these scammers would have you believe... You can get better acting classes in your area for much less money. There are real talent agents near wherever you are. AGENTS not scammers, as in affliliations with SAG and AFTRA! Which I never heard a single word about in the whole spiel at "Celebrity Actors Camp."
Final thought about the scam called Celebrity Actors Camp... Any time somebody wants "cash up front, no checks" as these people informed me, you can pretty well believe that they are going to take your money and it will be much harder to get it back when the subterfuge is discovered.
Other numbers associated with this are (909) 427-9547 (Celebrity Actors Camp web site) which comes up as belonging to a person, Melodee Griffin with an address in Long Beach. The number of the nasty woman we spoke to at the phony "audition" is (310) 651-4401 which comes up as an unknown Beverly Hills number. No way do I think that this woman lives in Beverly Hills, with her cheap clothes and bad makeup, but what the hay, you can get a cell phone with any prefix you want on it! Maybe she does live there, I just have a hard time believing it!
Just my opinion folks. Since I did NOT pay these people, and have NOT been through the program, I hope that it is all true, that they are helping these kids achieve their dreams. It just doesn't look like it from my point of view, it looks like a scam. |

As I read this report, I can appreciate the concern and recommendations. When I heard this ad on the radio I thought "what the heck might as well". I took all 3 of my children to this audition. My 13 year old was called back and has always been told about her amazing acting abilities and personality. They were very interested in her but they do not open this to everyone. They interviewed around 1200 kids and only around 40 attended and only a handful took the full advantage of doing the entire program. My husband and I are VERY skeptical and have found many scams. Do to the cost, we went back 3 different times before making a decision and really drilled them about what they were claiming to offer the kids. We had a lot of concerns that the classes were being taught by different people and that the actors simply made guest appearances which (ALL CLASSES WERE TAUGHT BY EXPERIENCED AND WELL KNOWN ACTORS) We were also concerned about who they were bringing in as casting directors and agents. We looked at the different packages being offered and it didn't make any sense to only do the base. We decided to go with the highest tier and it was expensive and worth EVERY penny. My daughter has taken and been exposed to many different training opportunities and this by far exceeded our expectations and any of the training she has received. It was a decision that we didn't make lightly and due to the cost we did a lot of research.
I can't say enough wonderful things about the program and opportunities that this has presented her with. I figured that they would bring in a cheapo photographer but he was absolutely amazing. He shoots for Hollywood his website is http://matthewmitchellphoto.comHe took around 300 shots of my daughter and there were only a handful that weren't usable. He gave all of them to me as soon as the shoot was over on a thumb drive.
At the end of the camp, they were able to audition in front of 2 casting directors; Larry Lafond (casting director from Nickelodeon) and TinaThorup (casting director out of Utah who has done a lot of movies including all of the High School Musicals) along with 3 different talent agencies (and Adrian R' Mante of course). There are a select few that are offered the opportunity to come down to LA and work directly with these actors for the summer camp, here are a list of actors & producers that they will be working with:
Lisa London (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montanaand who discovered Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Jason Earles and Yours Truly Adrian R'Mante),
Dana Gergely and Brandi Brice (The Suite Life on Deck, Jack and Janet Saves the Planet),
Joey Paul Jensen (Cory in the House, Even Stevens)
Adrian R’Mante in a recent movie (The Suite Life, CSI, 24)
Phill Lewis (The Suite Life on Deck ...Zack and Cody)
Mary Kate (set coach onThe Suite Life on Deck),
Adam Tait (set coach for Nickelodeon) and MUCH MORE!!
Matthew Timmons (“Woody” fromThe Suite Life on Deck)
David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverley Place)
Cameron Goodman (Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventureand MTV'sWild N' Out)
Tanya Chisholm (Big Time RushandHigh School Musical 2)
Chester See (Disney 365)
Julie Sagalowski (Executive producer of a new Disney Channel series)
There were only a couple of people chosen from the camps to attend the summer program. It is less expensive than the camp here in original cam and if you are selected for the pilot season it is very minimal cost (in comparison). If you think about it, the costs are much higher to pay for the accomidations, fly in all of the actors/directors/photographers etc. The summer camp is really intense. The kids are working from 10-5 everyday except wed. and then they take them out and have fun. Oakwood (where we will be staying) also has many after class activities and is working with Adrian & Sandra to help make it more affordable for the families. We are so excited!
Also, I have NEVER experienced any rudeness and called several times to Adrian's wife (she gives out her cell phone) and she has always answered any questions or concerns that I have had.
Also, I have read a lot of info on some of these comments that are completely inaccurate. If you go to their website, http://celebrityactorscamp.com you can read bio's of the actors and a breakdown of everything that they do.

Celebrity Actors Camp changed our lives
AUTHOR: AnnieB - miami (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Monday, February 14, 2011
I was actually on this site researching a different company when I ran across the negative comment posted about the Celebrity Actor's Camp and although I've never done this before I felt compelled to defend the Camp's good name.
My daughter recently completed the program in Miami, Florida and I must say, the program has changed our lives. Within 24 hours of completing the program she had been accepted by a Talent agency. Within 48 hours of completing the program she received her first audition- a taped read for a new Fox Pilot. Her next audition is this Thursday for a clothing store commercial and I am hoping the roller coaster ride does not stop anytime soon.
The Celebrity Actors Camp program consists of 8-10 all day acting workshops that take place on the weekends over the course of 8-9 weeks. Yes, it is expensive, HOWEVER, that being said when you break it down week by week, you get what you pay for. Where else can you find acting classes tailored to children being taught by actual working actors. Phill Lewis flew into Miami the same day he had been filming on "Raising Hope". You want acting classes taught by a nobody who's career never made it anywhere you can find them starting from $299.00. You want a class taught by working actors who are also caring individuals, who genuinely want to "fast track" your child's career, then Celebrity Actor's Camp is the way to go.
I mean, the casting director from Nickelodeon studios in Hollywood California actually knows my daughter's name, just that connection alone is PRICELESS.
During the course of the 9 weeks of training my daughters acting skills grew in leaps and bounds. Adrian R'Mante and his wonderful staff have perfected the process with training for Commercials, Sitcom TV, Drama TV, Film and Theater. They will teach your child the proper steps to "nail" an audition and as an added bonus, turn out a more confidant individual.
They are the "real deal". If your child has acting in their blood, then you should hope and wish and pray that they make the cut and get accepted into Celebrity Actors Camp. It could save you years of beating your head against the wall to get introduced to the right people.

To those of you who have read the evil and mean hearted blog above, please know that she has never participated in the camp. She has no foundation to make such negative comments about a company she has never attended or know anything about. I will not try to defend or write a rebuttal to person who has no merit from which she speaks but I will let our families who have ACTUALLY participated in the camp speak for us. Please read a few of many testimonials from actual campers and parents that have attended the camp. Also, read about the opportunities they received within the camp from agents, real auditions, jobs they booked and the Disney and Nickelodeon celebrities that trained them. Our families will speak for us:
You are both truly wonderful people and your program is outstanding. To think that in eight weeks you may have shaped Isabella's whole future. I am forever grateful. If you ever need anyone to write a testimonial about the outstanding awesomeness of your camp, please just let me know. Also to update you on things happening here. Monday at 12:14 p.m. I received a call from The Green Talent Agency here in Miami and Isabella has an appointment scheduled for an interview on Monday, February 21, 2011. Then last night at around 8:00 p.m. Lauren from The Green Talent Agency emailed a script for Isabella to memorize. This Thursday they want to tape her reading for the role of "Raquel" in a new pilot from Fox called Little in Common. Even without having done her interview! Wow, this is all going so fast it seems a bit surreal.
Thanks for everything, Annie And Isa
CAC,
I wanted to share with you about the extremely positive impact your camp has had on my family’s life. When my son, Brooklyn, was invited to join I had no idea what to expect. My wife and I were just parents who wanted to support the dream of our child and knew little about the industry or how to make the best path for our son. We had tried submitting him to an agent here or there before, but never had any response. Brooklyn is such a high energy young child that I feared he would not be able to pay attention long enough to really benefit from each of the workshops offered. My wife and I are truly appreciative to have been able to sit in and take notes for our son since he could not do so himself. It was amazing to see the rapid growth of not only our son, but also every child that was a part of the camp. It became very clear that this was the place for our son to learn about his passion and upgrading to level 4 was an obvious choice. After submitting Brooklyn to the agents on your list the way you instructed, the amount of agents who contacted us about Brooklyn was surprising and the numbers are still rising! He now has multiple legitimate agents that didn’t charge him anything upfront and is auditioning for commercials and print work regularly. Then something else incredible happened, I used the same tips you gave out at the camp and went on a few auditions of my own. I ended up booking several roles in independent movies and I have recently been casted for another! My son and I are proof that what you are doing works! I know in my heart that your camp will continue to grow and offer great opportunities for those who are passionate about their art! You have created a beautiful program and I am truly thankful for all the hard work you and your staff put forth. Sincerely, Robert Willard James sterling Fontana, CA Create your Topix Profile Reply »|Report Abuse|Judge it!|#5Monday Mar 14
Tested for a lead character in a new series for Disney! My son Nick has taken two workshops with Adrian R'Mante. He has grown so much as an actor and that is due to the fabulous teaching of Adrian. Adrian really has a knack for understanding kids and helping them really be in touch with themselves. Nick has thoroughly enjoyed every minute of class!! I also wanted to acknowledge the man behind the scene, Tim Sharpe. He is really the unsung hero and I just wanted to say thank you for being so gracious and helpful to us. Nick has gone out on some amazing auditions for lead roles in feature films since taking Adrian's camp. He has grown so much as an actor and that is due to the fabulous teaching of Adrian. Adrian really has a knack for understanding kids and helping them really be in touch with themselves. Nick just booked the new Ron Howard project, “Parenthood” and a new MTV series and movie starring opposite David Duchovny, which shoots in New Mexico thanks to The Celebrity Actors Camp!! Thanks Adrian and celebrities for EVERYTHING!!

Hi Adrian, Tim, Phil, Sandra and the rest of the gang... Thanks to all of you for giving Ashleigh and I a wonderful summer with CAC in LA. I know there must be a lot of hard work and organization that goes on behind the scenes to make this work As well, managing and giving your time to 50 kids of varying ages, day to day couldn't be an easy task. Sort of like the 1 room school of old. You are to be commended. Ashleigh has learned a lot about acting and picked up some life skills. I have noticed her to be more composed with greater confidence and self esteem when speaking with adults. She seems pleased with how her scene went last night and it is nice to see her more at ease on stage. We were unsure of how our summer would turn out but it has exceeded our expectations. We are grateful for the opportunity Adrian created for us to come. It became a summer not to be forgotten. Thanks for the memories and we hope to see you all again. We wish you all the best in your lives ahead. -Patricia Dear Tim, Adrian, and Chester,
If I told you the ATL Celebrity Actors Camp was a huge success it would be an understatement. The 3 day workshop provided the talent an amazing opportunity from which to learn, grow, and refine their talent. It was amazing to see the change these kids made in 3 short days. The respect, teaching, and care you offer the students with this program truly transformed many of the participants. The results were visibly evident Sunday afternoon when you met with us, the parents. Not only at my house did I hear, “this is the best thing I’ve ever done, I’m learning so much, I don’t want to leave, I wish I could do this again, “… it was also the majority consensus among other parents, as we talked with one another ( as parents do), and the same sentiments were being echoed and displayed by their children. This Press Release alone proves that Shannon from Nashville is incorrect with her hateful, angry and unwarranted blog.
“I always wanted to break into the acting business and be on television but Celebrity Actors Camp actually helped make my dream possible."
Miami, FL (PRWEB) February 25, 2011
Susana Hoyos, a local teen from Celebrity Actors Camp in Miami, has just been cast to star in Nickelodeon Latin America’s Grachi, the network’s new live-action television program for teens and her television debut. Shot in Miami, the comedy series follows Grachi, a young girl who must learn to use her new found magical powers all while coping with her school, boys and just growing up. Grachi will be produced in Spanish and will be released in Latin America this spring. Susana Hoyos and her show, Grachi will also be distributed in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Hoyos, who recently attended Phill Lewis and Adrian R'Mante’s Celebrity Actors Camp in Miami and is represented by Lauren Greene from the Green Agency, credits her acting debut to her recent camp experience and training.“I always wanted to break into the acting business and be on television, ” said Hoyos, “but Celebrity Actors Camp actually helped make my dream possible.” If done correctly, acting camps can provide both professional and personal growth opportunities for young children and teenagers. The experience of individualized camp structure and emphasis on commercials, television and film gives attendees greater understanding of acting and the multi-faceted opportunities that accompany the experience including increased confidence in acting abilities and pride in accomplishments. Adrian R'Mante, who can currently be seen on the Disney Channel and Saturday mornings on ABC playing the role of Esteban on the hit television series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, offers a six week celebrity acting camp taught by celebrities in cities across the United States and Canada. “I don’t think it should be that hard for kids and teenagers to follow their dream of acting. They just need training, confidence, true knowledge of the business and a few tricks to break into the Hollywood, ” says R'Mante.“It’s one thing to teach acting but it’s another thing to actually live in Hollywood and make a living as a professional actor on television. We want to pass this knowledge on the next generation of young actors and their parents.” Graduates of Celebrity Actors Camp have appeared in hits including NBC’s Parenthood, Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp, and Modern Family to name a few. Jillian Sampley Update: Has now done 12 Burger King commercials Because of Adrian R'Mante great teaching and other celebrities, my daughter’s confidence has exploded! Jillian has recently booked two more Burger King spots that will be aring at the Teen Choice Awards. Sampley family :)
You know what's really cool? I just had a moment. LIKE A REAL emotional moment. It really struck me how everything happens for a reason. Fate is SO overwhelming. I was thinking how lucky I was to take a chance and stumble accross your camp. I WAS SO LUCKY to experience what I did this last summer. And now I am taking it to the next level. I am currently CAST in an independent FILM. I am also working on attending a University (currently at comm college) by next fall or spring. I am so overwhelmed at how lucky I got- with everything. And I say lucky because I don't believe I deserve this life. I don't think I worked HARD ENOUGH for my life. What have I done to be so lucky- to fall head over heals for the performing arts? It's like "how dare I" you know? How dare my life be great when so many others have it worse? What about the kids who never had an outlet like theatre and live in shambles? It's hard for me to accept my fortunes but it's not hard for me to appreciate those who helped me along the way. Thank you so much Adrian. Thank you for being real and truthful with me. Thank you for being a great teacher. You ARE someone who deserves the best. If you're human, and I know you are, you have doubts. I want to remind you to keep going strong. When I think of camp and how you and Sandra personally helped me, it makes me feel SO greatful. Wishing you the best of luck this year. PS Hug Sandra for me. Rosie

I want to thank you personally for everything you have done for Josh. He appreciates you so much. He now has an agent and we have been going out on auditions everyday it seems like. I know he would be no where with out your camp. Honestly I can say a job well done. You and your crew have inspired him so much, and as a mother I cannot believe this is going to be his career. I never dreamed of having a son in this business because I know how hard it is. It brings me tears of joy to know I am doing the right thing, and supporting him in each and every way I can. please spread the word for I am very great full for you and your team. You guys work well together and get things done. I love the fact that you are responsible, and organized, because other companies out there cannot compare to you at all. Thanks so much for everything, and lets keep in touch. Lunch one day? Tell Sandra hello for me, and we will miss you guys so much, and I cannot wait until pilot camp. Hopefully something good happens. Keep your fingers crossed. Thanks so much for everything again. God Bless. Sue
I was wondering if you have sent the feedback emails yet and I didn't get it? I was also wondering if there was any way that I could get a list of Hollywood agents, is that something you would have available, i wasn't sure. Also, I truly want Adrian to know that I was so taken by his honesty and enthusiasm with the kids and parents. He is "real" person who wants to pass his knowledge on to others so they can learn from his experience. My daughter has gained so much from her camp experience and I can truly say that she is not as shy and quiet as she was before. She beamed everytime I picked her up at the end of the day and I saw a mature, assertive side of her that I never knew existed! I can't thank Adrian and everyone enough for making us feel so empowered. Warmest regards, Karen
CAC Family,
Hannah has actually used what she has learned from camp in her everyday life. She had a Doctors appointment with a new Dr. When he came into the room he asked Hannah how she was doing, Hannah responded with..."I'm fine thanks. How are you?" This caught the Dr. off guard, he stopped, responded that he was fine and asked her how old she was. When she told him, he asked her if she was sure she was only 7. Throughout the appointment, he spoke directly with her, as though I was not even there. At the end off the appointment he went to leave. She told him.. " thank you, have a nice day". Again he was caught off guard, and he had Hannah go with him and he introduced her to another Dr. and Hannah responded the same way. Hannah left the office with the 2 Drs. and a nurse impressed with her. It was funny to see. Hannah did not even realize what she had done. When I mentioned it to her, she told me Adrian told her to be polite and nice!!!

Recent graduate of Celebrity Actors Camp
AUTHOR: CAC - LA (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, April 12, 2011
I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Adrian R'Mante and his talented staff at the Celebrity Actors Camp. Adrian's camp travels around the United States working with youth who aspire to break into the acting world. Adrian provides classes for all different genres in the television industry: sit-com, drama, commercials, to name a few. He also expands his efforts into interviewing/auditioning techniques and the difficult task of marketing oneself in show business.
The camp makes an appearance in a city and advertises its presence on radio programs. The ads very clearly state that children between the ages of 6 and 19 can have an opportunity to learn how to break into the television industry. He makes no promises that it is a gateway to success, or that graduates of the camp will make automatically make it big. When the children audition for the camp staff they are told right off the bat that to make it big in the television industry hard work and a lot of rejection may be encountered, but if you really want it, keep trying. If you are right for the work, the work just might be waiting for you somewhere.
You are promised that your child will be taught skills that it requires to be successful in show business, that they will be treated as a member of an extended family, and, of course, that they will have a terrific time.
I sent my daughter to Adrian's Celebrity Actor's camp in Spokane, WA recently. I have to admit, I was skeptical initially about spending a good deal of money on a camp. We don't have a lot to spare right now. I actually investigated the camp online quite extensively prior to agreeing to sign my daughter up. I found quite a few things about Adrian and his camp online. Most was positive, but some was negative. I asked myself, "Where are the negative comments coming from?" Anything negative appeared to be no one who had attended the camp, had a child attend the camp, or knew Adrian personally. All the positive comments came from people who had experienced the camp, paid to have their child experience it, or knew Adrian for some time. "Besides, " I told myself, "why would all of these wholesome Disney stars, casting directors, and talent agents associate themselves with something that's bad?" So, I took the chance and paid for the most expensive package that I could for my very excited daughter.
WOW!!! Am I glad that I did! From the first moment of the camp, I was impressed with the level of energy that was exhibited by the celebrities. The mood was electric. My daughter picked up on that and became electric. It just steam rolled from there. As the classes went on, she became more and more confident in herself, more poised, and completely excited about what was to come next. We spent 5 weekends hauling her to the camp and were so terribly disappointed when it ended. We all wished that it went on for much longer. It was AMAZING!!! She learned so very much.
I can honestly say that my little 10-year old girl went in and made the most of this opportunity. I have watched her develop a passion for acting, watched her work EXTREMELY hard to complete the assignments given to her regarding memorizing lines and practicing techniques, and become an incredibly confident young lady. This coming from my sweet little girl who was interested in only collecting new friends at all other activities she participated in. She became serious about her future. WOW!
The camp was run smoothly with little or no snafus. I found if I felt I was "mis" or "un" informed, it was because I didn't read something carefully as opposed to it not being provided to me.
The kicker is...it hasn't really ended. Adrian is very busy with his own acting career, his business, and life. However, I have since communicated with him regarding questions that I may have regarding procuring an agency to represent her, pictures that need to be taken, expenses that might be unnecessary, etc. He has ALWAYS returned my messages and usually with 24 hours. I almost feel like we're the only ones out there that he's dealing with. However, I know we're one of many. He makes us feel that way by caring and taking pride in his students’ success after they finish his camp.
The money that we spent was WELL WORTH IT!! And the services that the Celebrity Actor's Camp provides are ongoing, as far as I can tell they will continue to be provided in perpetuity.
Thank you, Adrian and Celebrity Actors Camp! We are proud to be associated with you! Here's to a successful business and opportunity for my daughter!! |
