Avoid this place! Customers Be forewarned! They let my beloved pet terrier die a horrible death. After "recommending" surgery, the most expensive option, and stressing the minute risks involved I went with the "professionals?" opinions of Dr Olgilvie and Dr Osmond(who stated to me he actually likes these surgeries). I brought him in for fluids a day before the set procedure. As it turned out, Dr Osmond had too much on his plate for that day, even though that's when they wanted to do it. So we kept him in for another day waiting for the surgery. After the
surgery Dr Osmond called and told me that Peanut had bleed more than he had thought going in, and that his blood
pressure had dropped(likely due to an anesthesia error) so he aborted the surgery. The funny thing is that his "written" surgery report mentions none of this, and in fact is a glowing report not based in
reality. I rushed down to the center and when I got there a tech coming off shift told me "I've got my fingers crossed" which concerned me since Dr Osmond did not express such grave concerns. What happened was that when Peanut came out from anesthesia he started to bleed internally from several incisions that were not arrested nor addressed in the initial aborted procedure. This bleeding was not discovered nor addressed for several hours, and when Peanut started to slip away they finally did an ultra-sound that revealed internal bleeding. Peanuts heart stopped and they were able to start it. Then they finally started giving him blood(hours after the fact). I was told they would need to go back in to stop the bleeding(bleeding that should have been addressed earlier). But Dr Osmond had already headed home after not doing proper post op
monitoring. So Dr Slupe, the ER Dr was left to go in. She was able to get a hold of Dr Osmond who headed back in. When they finally went back in he noted, and I quote from his written case summary " The surgical site was evaluated thoroughly and 'SEVERAL' sites of hemorrhage were noted" and " Peanut arrested twice during the procedure" Followed by "Upon completion of the surgery(this is the second surgery) Peanut arrested again. Unfortunately , he did not respond to resuscitative efforts". Basically, he botched the 1st surgery leaving "SEVERAL sites of hemorrhage" unaddressed and did not address this bleeding for several hours by which time it was too late, and he had bleed out resulting in several painful heart failures.
To top it all off they actually submitted additional billing for the the 2nd surgery, a few thousand more on top of the $6,000 that was to address the 1st surgeries screw up. Talk about gall! When I asked for all the records they gave me what they said was all of them. When I reviewed them they did not
contain any 2nd surgery report, or Dr Slupe's report. So I had to go back and they had to get those reports done post haste. For some reason they did not want me to get those in the the original request. When I told Dr Osmond that things were not right, and that I was going to submit a review request to the regulatory bodies he snapped back "go
ahead". Hardly the response of a kind and caring Dr to a heartbroken family member after losing their best friend in a horribly botched surgery and negligent post op care resulting in extreme and needless suffering. Now I know how Chinese family members must feel when their billed for the bullet that killed their loved one.
I won't be surprised to see some paid hack come on here and try to smooth things out. But then again, as we all know all too well. When it comes to malpractice, Dr's seldom step up to the plate of responsibility......especially where a bucks concerned. So this is my testament, and just one step, towards "Justice for Peanut"
