HD streaming webcam on the roof of the building with sound. |

On ______0ct 6__ 2011 I met Bill Farhood of BF Datacomm to discuss installing camera equipment in my building. My primary interest and focus of the scope of work was an HD streaming webcam on the roof of the building with sound. This camera was intended to be mounted on the roof of the building such that it could see the side of the structure where an artist will be painting a giant mural, and also the surrounding neighborhood. I also had marginal interest in upgrading some security cameras in the building.
Mr. Farhood was confident in his abilities to do the job and began right away. He did not provide me with a written estimate, he did not at any point indicate to me what he was spending and what the bill was. He started installing security cameras and after several weeks the "roof cam" still did not seem to be moving forward. I asked him to cease and desist all work on the security cameras as they were secondary, and to focus on the main roof camera. We had several disagreements through the course of getting the cameras installed as his focus seemed to be on security cameras and not the installation of the roof webcam.
Finally, the rooftop webcam was installed, and Mr. Farhood wanted payment. I had given him $4000 when he began, and he then gave me a bill for over $4500 more as a final total invoice of over $8000. It was then discovered that the camera he installed on the roof was not a streaming webcam, and would not do the job it was intended to do. This was the prime focus of my hiring Mr. Farhood. After several exchanges attempts were made to get the camera to work, but they failed. He also abandoned the project and did not give me any written training or instruction on how to use the security system. It is useless to me.

I am writing in response to the false and unfortunate attacks made against me by Tony Vera on this site, and on his site tonyvera.com. Mr. Vera retained me to install 11 high-resolution cameras and a start-of-the-art PTZ streaming camera system for $10, 500. Both of these systems function perfectly. Mr. Vera, however, has yet to pay the final installment of $2, 500, which is the subject of a pending lawsuit. He states that I was retained to install a Samsung streaming camera that would provide real-time streaming on his website. That is untrue and he has no documentation to establish his claim. I purchased a camera that he selected and requested and charged him my cost, in addition to the complete surveillance system that I installed. I was never hired to write software to stream video to a website. Mr. Vera has engaged in a series of negative posts and tweets since mid-November. I arrived at his home with local police and offered to return the camera. Mr. Vera refused to return the camera and would not allow entry to the building. I am a licensed, bonded, and insured C-7 California low-voltage electrical contractor since 1983 with a spotless record of service. I have literally hundreds of cameras and dozens of DVR surveillance systems working flawlessly in the Los Angeles area in the past few years alone. I do voice, data, video, fiber optics, control systems and all low-voltage work. I have worked all over the country, including New York, Nevada, Utah, Washington state, and Arizona. I do not provide web design, website software, or live-streaming software. I have never had a dispute or insurance claim filed against me in 29 years of contracting. I am thankful that we live in a society that protects freedom of expression. However, it is also painful and frustrating that these constitutional protections can be used to attack individuals such as myself, because of ulterior motives. Accordingly, I hope that you will evaluate any claim Mr. Vera makes with scrutiny. Mr. Vera has also recently posted a video of himself while quite drunk, stating that he had "fallen off the wagon" following a settlement with Mike Tyson where it was alleged that Mike Tyson battered Mr. Vera as a result of being intrusive. The site was live at http://venice311.org/2011/11/12/addiction-recovery-relapse-and-life-living-in-venice-beach-tony-vera-video/ but has since been privatized. I am sorry for the battles that Mr. Vera faces. However, I continue to provide top-quality low-voltage services in the Venice and Marina del Rey areas and should not be subject to baseless attacks. Thank you for taking the time to read my response. |
