My significant other purchased an AT&T Wireless plan and a Samsung smart phone a few years ago while I was in college. Upon purchasing the wireless plan and smart phone through an AT&T dealer in Best Buy we were told that we would be paying for a 2 year contractual agreement that included UNLIMITED NIGHTS and WEEKENDS with 1000 daytime minutes for the price of $69.99. We were also TOLD that the phone plan would also include UNLIMITED Internet usage and TEXT messaging. All was well for a few months until unexpectedly my phone bill went from $70ish to $90ish.
I called AT&T right away to question what was going on with my phone bill. I was told that I did NOT have the services I was originally TOLD I would have. Of course I looked over my contract and found that I did NOT have anything UNLIMITED. I was also informed that text messaging, video messaging, and web usage was also NOT included in my package. Instead of being irate I blamed myself for TRUSTING a corporate representative. It was my responsibility to look over my contract and I should have known better considering I have taken numerous law courses including CONTRACT LAW. After speaking to an AT&T employee over the phone I was then told I could go with another plan that would include all of the above for $70 and some change. I agreed. All was well until a few months ago when I started once again receiving a phone bill for $90.00.
Keep in mind my contract was now over and I truly loved my phone and services but for the price AT&T was sporadically charging it was NOT worth it. I made the decision to call AT&T and eliminate the mobile web and text messaging and go with the unlimited plan. I was told AT&T does NOT have ANY unlimited plans by one AT&T associate while another claimed to have signed me up while I waited on the phone. So not true. I called to pay my bill and was told that I was being charged $689.000 because the nice and INFORMATIVE AT&T guy gave me a service plan I knew nothing about nor did I ask for. Please note that my charge went from $60.00 to $689.00 in a matter of DAYS. I repeat within DAYS. Once again I called to rectify the situation and was told that this guy gave me a phone plan that had fewer minutes than any plan I have ever had with AT&T. So while I waited for this guy to make the corrections and the switch to UNLIMITED this guy was giving me a plan that neither he nor I had agreed upon.
I am still waiting for this matter to be resolved. However it behooves me that I have to wait for a resolution when my order and confirmation could be confirmed through their recorded phone system. According to another AT&T associate the guy that maliciously gave me the false information was being reported by her and another associate for his wrongdoing. However I have to wait for a resolution! I have documentation that proves 1). I have NEVER paid $100 or more for a cell phone bill, 2). Any and every time I have called AT&T it was to REDUCE my phone bill not increase it, and 3). If AT&T cannot correct this matter in a timely matter I will file a lawsuit.
