AT&T Beware All Small Business Owners: AT&T PayPerCall is run by scam artists! Troy, Michigan
27th of Dec, 2010 by User817401
I am a small home improvement business in Milwaukee,Wisconsin and initially had some sucess with the Yp.com listing and the link to my website which is also run by At&t. My story is similar to many others. I was told I would be charged only for legitimate calls and that if there was ever a bad call that did not relate to the business, "just call customer service and they'll remove that from your bill." I was also told I would only recieve calls from Mon thru Fri from 9am to 5pm as they would be able to indicate to the caller( by a recording supposedly )to call back duringbusiness hours. As in other cases they credited me for a few calls at first but now its not even worth the call to them because of the runaround you get and the time you waste.Nevertheless, I still log all incoming calls from them, even though I hang up on them now. I paid a year in advance for the YP.com with the understanding that the billing would be seperate for pay per call but they are billing me off of the YP.com account. When that money is gone , I'm pulling the plug on all of AT&T services and I'll fight them Tooth and Nail for any money they might think I owe them because I was lied to and cheated. Similar story for me. I have a Mobile DJ business in san Diego. AT&T "salesman" {Jace} called and called me... made it very clear that this was a "NO RISK" opportunity and that if it did not work out I could cancel at any time and they would simply "reroute the calls to another similar business". Unfortunately they leave this part out of the recorded message when making the recording and getting your "voice contract". Now I get emails stating how many calls I received - and how many I have to pay for ($20/each) when I NEVER answered or received any such calls!
I even disconnected the phone number and cancelled the credit card that they have on file so they have no direct way to get paid. When I cancelled the phone, I made teh mistake of having an out going message stating my new phone number (mobile phone - NON AT&T!!!), and now they started calling me - amazingly a REAL PERSON calls me to try and get paid. I have told them that I want the contract VOIDED and that I DO NOT plan on paying them ONE SINGLE DIME more! They came back with the "legally binding contract blah blah blah". I told them that I have a degree in small business law and that a contract is not binding if it was misrepresented, and that what they are doing is a form of entrapment (changing the details at the time of the contract signing vs what was clearly presented to me). Of course my sales rep JACE is no longer in this department and can not be reached.
Anyone wanna start a class-action suit? Victor M.

Exactly the same! This whole thing IS A COMPLETE JOKE! They charge the business PER CALL- meaning if its a wrong number, duplicate call, or a call after hours when the business is closed- they will still charge you 20-25$$ dollars per call. Their website is always down- you have to request a fax in order to track the actual numbers that are CALLING YOU and their "customer service" is nothing more than a bunch of rude a-holes who cannot help you in any way- never the less GETTING A real job!!! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE- DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A-N-Y SERVICE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

Small businesses beware! This company had a sales rep meet with me to try and sell me on a whole host of products for advertising my business. I wouldn't budge on anything, especially internet related, because I am very well positioned online. But, he did sell me on signing up for 1 year of print phone book Yellow Pages where I would only have to pay if a prospect called me, called Pay Per Call.

I figured that the $13-$16 per call would be worth it because if they called, I'd have a very good chance of converting it into business that would pay for that cost. Here's what you don't realize and how they get you...98% of your calls will be "unknown" wrong numbers, or telemarketers calling you where you'll have 0% chance of business but YP will get paid 100% from you. YP makes a ton of money and you don't...in fact, you end up having to pay a ton of money for absolutely nothing in return. It's a complete scam and I think they might even be behind a lot of the unknown numbers calling...if they even just did this once or twice a month for every number in the phone book, they'd make a fortune...I'm sure they do it way more often than that and you can't prove it's not them.

They don't work with you and they force you to pay for the non-business phone calls from telemarketers and unknown numbers. You also get a lot of calls from people asking you for referrals to other types of businesses...some in which your business isn't even remotely related to. You can't possibly know these are almost the only calls you'll receive before you sign up...and you have to pay for all of these calls that do nothing for your business!

Don't let yourself get sucked into this fraudulent scam like I did in Orlando, FL. I am looking at joining a class action lawsuit against Yellow Pages.
