ASG Deceptive Practices - Transfer of contract Internet
30th of Jan, 2011 by
ASG is not a company that I will trust any longer. I have been a customer since 2008 so my initial 3 year contract would have be up in September of 2011. We decided to move and I called ASG to transfer the contract I already had to the new house, NO problem the Sales Guy said, however in reality I am stuck into a NEW 3 year contract and when cancelling the old contract after the house sold, and paying 2 monthly bills to ASG formonitoring service, I was told I would have a cancellation fee. Not happy, so I called and complained only to find out that they did waive the cancel fee however i was in a NEW 3 year agreement at the new house.

Again not happy. I was not informed of this when I signed up, I was told it would be transferring the other agreement. Cancellation fee is outrageous, over $1,000. Nothing was mentioned on Contract I signed about a NEW 3 year term. Even if you don't cancel your contract with the 30 day notice you are only signed back up with a 2 year term. Sounds like I was taken advantage of by ASG for being a loyal customer and giving them the transfer agreement instead of starting fresh with another company. As for "free or no cost" to start a security agreement. It cost me plenty, over $250 to get my NEW agreement in place. Their equipment isn't cheapto purchase for install either. I amstill having issues with this same equipment and they state they can't do anything more unless I spend MORE money with them ($100)..really, now why would I do that!

Beware what you think you are buying. Now I find out the the existing security box wasn't compatible either so some of my equipemnt doesn't work, so need to "upgrade" the box to a different unit, hence more money! The Sales staff only want to make money and don't care if the system is compatible for your house and what you are buying.Isn't this their job? How are we (customer) suppose to know if the equipement will work through walls. How would you feel if you bought remote controls ($100 worth) only to find out that they don't work with the currently installed box. Their suggestion was to walk up to the front door and push the remote and it should work. This defeats the purpose of "remote" which you use when pulling out of your garage while setting in your car. This is what they were designed for isn't it.Numerous times, thought alarm was set, only to find out it wasn't due to remote not working, or when turning off alarm with remote, it doesn't work,s o you have alarm company call you because alarm went off when you thought the remote turned it off. What a piece of junk this remote system is. It is getting worse every year with companies not doing honest business and making the consumer pay for its mistakes and/or dishonesty. I would not recommend doing business with ASG.
