Credit One Bank, Credit One Credit Card They open accounts without your authorization Las Vegas, Nevada |

If you will notice Credit One uses the same logo (different color) as Capital One making it very easy for they eye to see the "C" the "O" and the boomerang. I have a capital one card and love it so when I saw the e-mail to apply for another I thought sure. This was my first mistake because it was Credit One. Before the card arrived they were reporting the account to all three Credit Agencies. When the card arrives it states you must call within 14 days to activate it or they will close the account. I never opened the account, all I did was apply. Within a couple of days of the card arriving a bill was in the mail for $81. My dispute is still fresh and unresolved but I wanted to share so that others can take the steps I am taking and hopefully it will be resolved. My claim is that yes I applied for the card under the belief I was applying for another Capital One card. I do NOT believe applying for something is the same as opening an account. I stand firm on the fact I do not have an account with Credit One. Actions I have taken and results so far are -Postal to both addresses for Credit One (City of Industry, CA billing and Las Vegas NV corporate) - I have not received a response. -Online complaint BBB of Southern NV - the first complaint they closed within 24 hours "No action required" -Online complaint BBB of Souther NV - I told them yes they are to mediate - I have received no response -Online complaint Attorney General of NV - They have not responded -Online dispute Equifax - takes 30 days to receive a response. -Online complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs - no response -Responded to Credit One reminder e-mail - probably automated so I don't expect a response. -File complaint with the U.S. Department of Treasury Comproller http://www.ffiec.gov/consumercenter/default.aspx - they have opened a case and notified me of the case number. On other sites I have read stories of people who call the number(s) available and they ask for the card number then tell them "your account is now active. How may I help you" which means you have opened an account with them and are now liable for the charges. I refuse to call the number so if anyone has a number out there that does not activate the account please share it. Finally my point is. Don't let anyone play with your credit score regardless of who they are. Research the internet and complain complain complain until someone will help you and/or explain to you. In this case I clearly do not owe because I did not open the account. In other cases the fees and late charges are ridiculous and you have to stay on top of these folk to make sure they are running the books legally and fairly. Thanks, |
