In April 2011, I contracted Mr Henry Sutton II, owner of Aqualine Design Pools & Spas Inc,. to resurface the swimming pool and pool deck at the home of my 88 year old Mother. The entire project was to be completed between April 25 to May 6, 2011. The Aqualine crew drained the pool, removed decorative tiles and sanded the interior on Good Friday, April 22nd. With no explanation for their delay, the crew did not return to continue work until a week later. At that time, the City Building Inspector dropped by and observed that the work was being done without Mr. Sutton, a licensed Florida
Pool Contractor, having pulled the required construction permit! In spite of Mr. Sutton's failure, the City Inspector told the crew and Mr. Sutton they could continue working, with the understanding that the permit would be secured on the following Monday. When the next week arrived, Mr Sutton informed me that he would not be returning to finish the work, abandoning my Mother's pool renovation project. He never pulled the required permit, nor did he return to complete the work barely started. I was obligated to find an immediate replacement who would be willing to finish another company's work, to ensure there would be no risk to people or damage to the pool or property by leaving the pool empty for an extgended period of time. Despite many attempts to contact him and to work out a reasonable solution, Henry Sutton refused to return my deposit of $2,650.00 and did not complete the job. I did bring a small claims suit against Mr Sutton, in court where I prevailed. However, Mr Sutton continues to refuse to do the right thing and has not honored the court's judgement to return my deposit. Mr. Sutton has demonstrated arrogant disregard to safety and is an unprofessional contractor. His business website shows the icon for the Better Business Bureau, however The BBB has reported to me that as recently as November 2011, his company's membership had long ago expired. In my calls to him and on his website, he also writes that his company, Aqualine Design Pools & Spas Inc. installs Pebble Tech brand pool surfaces, when in fact, my calls to Pebble Tech company revealed that he and his company are not recorded as being a customer or authorized installer. By these actions, the Aqualine Design Pools & Spas company and Mr. Henry Sutton should be actively avoided: Does not deliver on contracted services; Does not refund monies paid when work is not completed; Displays disdain for his customers; Does not follow
ordinances or permitting regulations in his region of operation.
