In 09-10 tax season I was an assistant manager at two of her offices located in the West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky Tri-State Area. Anne Fuller the former Liberty Tax franchisee owner is equal to a modern day Calamity Jane. I've witnessed first hand that she did not practice ethically in a number of ways including but not limited to fraud and embezzlement. I've witnessed her lie to customers regarding service fees; they were told they were getting free returns or discounts on the service costs, but later after reviewing the paper work you could see where she had gone back in and charged outrageous fees, only to frustrate customers when they received only portions of their returns. A headache I had to deal with. Besides practicing unethically, she didn't train employees ethically either. She trained them how to change screens so clients wouldn't see the service charge only how much was left over. And she has ripped off probably more than 30 employees by not providing last paychecks or promised seasonal bonuses.
Liberty Tax Service is a reputable and reliable tax service corporation that offers outstanding savings and benefits to tax payers both individual and business. They specialize in getting the maximum refund available and are still a company I would recommend. However under Fullers' management it was more like a tax chop shop, the biggest question I'm sure people are asking her is: "where did all that money go?" Between refunds, paychecks, and bonuses I'd estimate over the period of time she was a franchisee she embezzled somewhere around $500,000. But where did it all go? The majority was spent at casinos across the nation and monthly trips to Las Vegas she would splurge on employees sometimes like company dinners or nights out at the race track and other things like that. She was barely ever around to supervise her stores and she spent about 90% of her time travelling.
Today February 1, 2010 I found out that Fuller is no longer a franchise owner of Liberty Tax and that she is currently being held in a secured facility, not sure where, don't really care. Except I would like to start a class action law suite against her for the employees and customers she has scammed. Maybe this blog post will help in rallying them all up.
This complaint is not against Liberty Tax Services and Fullers actions (though once affiliated) should not be a reflection of the corporation itself. If I could go back to work for Liberty Taxes I would in a heart beat. It's a company with a program I can stand behind and I did. I quite before I was fired for not following her instructions concerning refund fees. Even though you might be hired by a crook it doesn't mean you need to be one too. I gave more than 80 clients at least 50% off the rates she was charging because they were absolutely absurd. Like my refund two w2's, one 1098-T, and a 1099-G was $340 to file. I could have got it done at wal-mart for $30. |
