American Auto Group Big scam Maple Shade, New Jersey |
12th of Dec, 2011 by User834976 |
I just bought a car from American Auto Group on November 12, 2011. The car I bought is a 2006 Chevy Cobalt with 79,575 miles on it. When I bought the car I told them when I test drove the car that the Service Air Bag light is on and that something did not feel right with the brakes. The car also did not start up right away because the battery was dead. So America Auto Group told me they will look at the Air Bag sensor and fix the problem and they also told me they would fix the brakes and give me a brand new battery. I was skeptical at first about buying this car because of the issues it had but the dealer at American Auto Group smooth talk his way into me buying the car. When I went to pick the car up the dealer at America Auto Group told me they fix my brakes by giving me all new brake pads and rotors. They also told me they gave me a new car battery and they said they fix the service air bag light. They told me the sensor was not put on probably. So I drove the car home and the next day when I drove the car to work I notice the brakes still felt weird and the service air bag light came back on. On Nov. 15, 2011 I took my car to Meineke for an simple oil change and for a tune up and ask them about the service air bag light. Meineke told me they don't check Air bag but told me that the light goes off temporary when you plug it into a car computer diagnostic machine. Meineke just change my spark plugs and change my oil. The next day the car would not start up it was totally dead. I called American Auto Group and told the about the car not starting and about the service air bag light and told them the brake still feel weird. the dealer at America Auto Group gave me the run around saying the brakes are new and they just need to be brake in and adjusted and that weird feeling when driving will go away and they also told me the reason why the car wont start was probably because my car battery was dead and they said the air bag sensor probably got trip when I hit a bump on the road. I said to them that you were suppose to change the car battery and the dealer blamed it on their car mechanic saying he must have forgot and how they were sorry and to come in and they would change it. On Nov. 17, 2011 I took my car to them they had it for half a day, They change the car battery and turn off the Service Air Bag light. A couple of days after I got my car back from American Auto Group the Service Air Bag light came back on and the car started to shake and the brake were feeling worst then just weird. Nov. 28 I was driving to work and the car was shaking when I reach the speed of 40 mph, the car felt like it was over heating and a cop pulled me over to see and ask me about the shaking. The cop told me I had to get my car towed to a mechanic because it is unsafe to drive with the shaking. So I called up American Auto Group right away and told them about the shaking and the cop pulling me over. American Auto Group told me to bring in the car and they will fix it. So I brought them the car that same day making me an hour and a half late to work. I drop the car off to them. Nov 29, 2011 I pick my car up from American Auto Group and they told me that my emergency brake was stuck and they fix the problem and fix the Service Air Bag light again saying water got into the sensor making the Service Air Bag light to go off. Nov. 30, 2011 I drove my car to work again and once again my car was shaking. I called up American Auto Group and the dealer did not answer his phone I left him a message to call me back. Dec. 1, 2011 I drove my car to work and the car was shaking and it was getting worst. I once again called the dealer and he once again did not answer his phone so I left a message asking him to call me back. The past 4 days I received no call backs from America Auto Group and no answer when I called them. Dec. 6, 2011 I took my car to a Chevy Service place to get it check out. I spend $100 for them to inspect my car. Chevy told me that my brakes were bad and that my master cylinder need to be replace along with all my brake hose and pads and seals. They are told me since my car brakes have been locking up my wheels that my rims got damaged and I need 3 new rims and that the car has four different tire brands and treads and one of the tires were not the right size tire. The quoted me $1,852 to get all the problems fix by them. I called up American Auto Group and told them about the problem. The dealer told me that the Chevy Service Dep. was lying to me and that they are monster and I can't trust them and then they told me to bring my car in and they will fix the problem and take care of it I also let him know that the Service Air bag light came back on and that my passenger air bag need to be fixed and they just told me bring in my car and they will look at it and see what needs to be fix and they would fix the problem. At this point the car is not even a month old and I just did not trust them and I didn't trust taking my car to them anymore to fix the problem because I took my car to them 3 times to fix my car with the same problem all 3 times. I also heard from some people nothing but horrible and bad things about America Auto Group. So I decided to bring my car to different mechanics to get different quotes. I went to Meineke to get it check out. Meineke told me the same thing that the Chevy Service Dep. told me what was wrong with the car and Meineke told me that they could only do my brakes and that there place did not do rims and tires because it is a small Meineke. So Meineke quoted me $685 to fix the problem with my brakes. Then a friend told me to go to H&A Auto Service to get it check out cause my friend had their car fix by them and they told me the service was great. I went to H&A Auto Service and the check my car and found the same problem wrong with my car that Chevy Service Dep. and Meineke did. H&A Auto Service told me that they could only do the brakes for me. H&A Auto Service quote $534 to fix my brakes. I told H&A Auto to fix my brakes. While H&A Auto were fixing my brakes the found out that there was Antifreeze in my Brake Fluid system and that what cause my brakes and wheels to lock and it also damaged my brake hose and brake seals. Since my brake and wheels were lock thats what damage my rims and tires which cause the shaking of the car. H&A Auto were great and after they fix my brakes they sent me to one of their friends tire place to fix my tires. H&A Auto told me to go to Mr. Tire in Oakland, NJ. Mr. Tires quote me $975 to replace my rims and tires and to fix the wheel alignment. I told them I was short on cash because I paid $7,200 for the car and $700 to get the car inspected and fixed. I told them I wont be able to fix the rims and tires until after the holidays. So Mr. tires told me that they can rotated and balance and fix my wheels alignment for me for $95 dollars to temporary fix the problem so it does not get worst and until I get money to fully fix the problem. The car drive great now it just slightly pulls to the right because of the rims and tires and Mr. Tires also bang out the rims for me so they were not to bent. So all together I paid $795 dollars fix this car that American Auto Group told me that they will fix before I bought the car for $7,520. I paid American Auto Group $7,200 for the car and I still owe them $320 but I had to used that money I owe them to fix the car. Today is officially 30 days since I bought the car. I called up American Auto Group today and told them since I had to pay $795 to fix the car that they were suppose to fix. I was not going to pay them the $320 and that I want the car title and car registration and license plate or I wanted my $7,200 back and they can have the car back. I fax over all the receipt I have to show them all the money I paid to fix the car they sold me. They said they would take $200 off and that I would only owe them $120 to get the car title and car registration and license plate and I told them I don't think that it is fair that I should pay them any more money when the Service Air bag light is still on and that I have to get it fix and that I still need new rims and tires. Then American Auto Group told me that it is not their problem and that I either owe them $120 dollars or $320. It was in the contract I made with American Auto Group that they were suppose to fix the brakes and the Air Bag Service light and replace the car battery. They only replace the car battery after the car died on me and did not start. They did not fix the brakes or the Service Air Bag light. So I told them I did not have any money right now because I use it all to fix the car and they said direct quote "I need to either borrow the money from someone or work overtime at my job if I can to be able to pay the the money" and I argue with them about that and American Auto Group then told me that I now owe them the whole $320. I told them I was not going to pay it cause I did not have the money and then they told me it is not there problem and it is mine and that I will just get ticket after ticket and they will just keep the car title and car registration and license plate and hung up the phone on me. Now I paid the sticker price for the car I did not try to negotiate the car price with them. I told them I will pay the sticker price if the fix them problems with the car. American Auto Group did not fix the problems with the car. I had to fix the problems. American Auto Group did not hold up their end of the deal so why should I hold up mine. American Auto Group is a horrible business. American Auto Group are rude and American Auto Group is a huge scam. American Auto Group sell unsafe cars. Warning do not buy from American Auto Group. |
