A.G.E advertised a physiotherapy assistant job on gum tree. The advert states no experience required as training will be provided. I applied for the job attaching my cv. Two days later I recieved a call from a lady by the name of Chelsi. She told me that she has recieved my cv, but she said she notice that I do not have any CPR or Manual handling qualifiations on there. She then went on to say that, she has arranged an interview for me with a physiotherapy and that I must complete the CPR and Manual handling course before she can send me for the interview. She gave me the interview date but no further details. I then agree to do the course with the anticipation that there is an interview lined up for me. I reluctantly paid 250 for both courses. Chelci told me that I will get a call from the physiotherapy 2 days after the course to arrange a location for my interview. On the day of the course I travelled to the location in London bridge. The tutor was late. The quality of the teaching was very poor, the writing on the projector was blury and the tutor did not know how to adjust it so I could barely see anything. At that point I started to think this must be a con. At the end of the session we were not given any hand outs, so I ask for an handout and the tutor said he was not instructed to give handouts. Two days after the course I waited anciusly for the phone call from the physiotherapist but did not recieve any call. I then phoned chelci to let her know, she did not seen as enthusiastic as she was at the start. She said there is nothing she can do. At that point I new it was a big scam. Up to this day I have not recieved any interviews or calls from any one at A.G.E train. I called them every week but get no where I really dont want them to get away with it. They are still advertising job on gumtree and totaljob. People please dont fall for it, as conviencing as it may look, its a scam.

Yes I agree with you. This has happened with me too and with my 2 other friends..The number keeps increasing, doesn't it?? I got the course done and after that there has been no response from their end...I even mailed them in detail accusing them of scam..This is ridiculous...To take advantage of people who are looking for a job..and they are still posting their ads everyday...I wonder how many of them might have been trapped in their sweet talks like us!!! hope everyone researches a bit before paying for the course...

OMG... THANK YOU GUYS..THE SAME THING PARTLY HAPPENED TO ME. I APPLIED FOR THE SAME JOB AND WAS TOLD TO DO A TRAINING THAT COST £290. I BECAME SUSPICIOUS SO I ASKED IF I COULD DO A PART PAYMENT AND THE PERSON SAID YES, SO I PAID £50 DEPOSIT AND I WAS TOLD TO PAY THE REMAINING 3 DAYS BEFORE THE COURSE. I AM STILL SUSPICIOUS SO I RESEARCH THE COMPANY AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOP.

oh wow, i am scheduled to have a CPR and MH training on the 23rd July and i have paid the £50 deposit. I can't believe this 'company' is rippong people off like this!

I hear what you guys are saying but I got a temp job, and they are a recruitment agency so u cant expect to be guaranteed a job. Its really common sense. You get the same result with people like REED etc
4876 days ago by Maximus
Lol. People are complaining because they had to pay to do training. So if you wanted to work as a pilot, do you not expect to have to do training first. And what!!! you think if you do the training a job is going to just fly into your lap. People that believe things in life are guaranteed without effort are foolish. I do training every year to work, but doesn't mean i rely on one source to get a job, and YES i do have to pay for my training also. Winging over not getting a job, when you rely on one source is pathetic. I think what they are doing makes sense Provide trainings so you can work, and if a job comes in that's good for you, you work. Its the way all agencies operate. Read up into it more before you judge. LOL

i did the training got a job elsewhere, didnt promise me a job but sent me to a few interviews, training was valuable, mines expired so going back to do it again. Its like any other recruitment agency, you need to look for yourself aswell.

I've had like 3 interviews via age training didn't get 2 of them and waiting for a reply from the last, my friend did the training too but has not had any interviews as yet. So I wouldn't say it's scam I think it's a matter of luck really. But fingers crossed I get this job cheers guys

I would like to thank everyone for there comments good and bad.

We are a training and recruitment company, our main aim is to prepare and help candidates to be able to work with in their chosen field. One of the key factors to being able to work within the medical industry is having the right qualifications and certificates.

Before we forward any candidates to any vacancies we must screen the candidate which may lead to them needing some training at this point the candidate is offered the training.

If the candidate decides to go ahead this does not mean they are guaranteed a job, it means we are able to now start forwarding their cv to potential employers.

Once the cv's have been sent it is down to the employer if they wish to contact the candidate and employ the candidate.

If the candidate does not get the vacancy we keep them on file and continue to forward their cv as when appropriate.

I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding any one have.

AGE Training, if what you say is true, why does the same generic job advert keep coming up? Also, most employers are happy to pay for training once they have found the right candidate.

I know what you are doing is not illegal, but you cannot deny that you are not coercing people into doing your training courses. Why do I think this? Your adverts aim particularly at foreign workers or those desperately trying to get a foothold in health care. These people are therefore not as wary as others and are more likely to believe your sweet talking agents! You lead people in with the promise of jobs, often those who have just come to your country won't have the full range of courses that are required, so can easily be persuaded that they need to sign up for them.

I would ask anyone to think twice before contacting this company. Do you really need what they claim to offer?

I wish I had been able to search properly before doing the course. If I had found this page, I would not have signed up.

This agency prays on young desperate people looking for work in the healthcare field. They are scum bags that have no shame

They make you pay £255 for a bull***t certificate, that you get from sitting and listening for 6hours to a dimwit "Qualified Instructor" that probably got hes info from Wikipedia. Manual handling and CPR courses cost around £30 a lesson and you need at least 10 lessons to get a certificate. These guys are running a legal scam.

Once you sign the electronic terms and conditions form they own that £255 and you would be lucky to get a phone call out of them.

They are scamming people, and will continue to to scam peeople if they are not reported. Start reporting them. I did this worthless course on the 26th of August 2011, whilst on the course I phone A.G.E training to find out if they are finding work and getting interviews for me. Mehraj Choudhury said that I had to physically have the certificates in my hand before they can get me an interview. Before I paied for the course I said I will only only pay if they can guarantee me an interview. Antone Husbands ( He likes to change his name when trying to avoid talking to people on the phone) said he can definately guarantee an interview for me once I completed the course. I completed the cousre and after 3 weeks I finally recieved my worthless certificates that were sent by 2nd class. I asked for Antone Husbands because remember he had guarateed me an interview, funny enough he was not available. I have contstanly been phoning specifically asking for Antone husbands, I had phoned 3 times in one day he was either at lunch, in a meeting or not available. I had come to the conclusion they are running a scam. A recuitment agency will NEVER EVER ask for money for a course, employers will provide in-house training. They will also ask you to come in for an interview. A.G.E training do not intend to invite for an interview niether do they endevour to get you an interview let alone a job. Get your money back by getting legal advice, they need to be stopped and will be stopped. Who are their clients? have you been to their premises? why are the vital pages on their cheap website under construction? Watchdog want all people who have been affected by A.G.E training to contact them as soon as possible to get their stories. I have already contacted them and told them my experience with A.G.E training and about the scam they are running. If you have been affeted by A.G.E training report them to 'ACTION FRAUD' Message to A.G.E trainig: please respond, I would love to hear what pathetic excuses you will come up with this time

I would like to thank everyone for there comments positive and negative.

We are a training and recruitment company, our MAIN aim is to prepare and help candidates to be able to work with in their chosen field. One of the key factors to being able to work within the medical industry is having the right qualifications and certificates.

When we advertise any vacancies we do state all the requirements for the job. Such as First Aid Certificates etc. Once candidates apply to any vacancies we must screen the candidates to reassure they have the qualifications and to reassure any vacancies we forward them to are suitable for them. If the candidate has applied for the vacancy and does not have the correct qualifications even though it is stated on the advertisement we advise them to get them completed.

We do not state that they must complete the training with us, every candidate has the option to go else where or simply not complete it if they do not wish to do so.

If the candidate decides to go ahead with the training with us or else where it does not mean they are guaranteed a job, it means we are able to now start forwarding their CV to potential employers that would be suitable for them.

Once the cv's have been sent it is down to the employer if they wish to contact the candidate and employ the candidate.

If the candidate does not get the vacancy we keep them on file and continue to forward their CV as and when appropriate.

I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding any one have.

Cancellations for any course that is part of this agreement must be made at least 72 hours in advance by telephone and e-mail. In the event that a course cannot be run at the agreed day and time then A.G.E Training agree to notify the client 48 Hours in advance of such a cancellation and will provide an alternative course date. Failure to arrive at any course over 20 minutes late will result in not being permitted to enter that training. No refund will be given if you miss a course due to lateness. If a deposit has been paid within 7 days off the course commencing, and the candidate chooses to cancel, they will receive all monies minus 50% of the whole course cost. The client agrees to inform A.G.E Training ltd of any injuries or illnesses that may put the student or any other course attendee at risk to their health. If a student arrives over 20 minutes late for any class, they will not be allowed to enter, and will not receive a refund for their course.

Employment.

A.G.E Training does not guarantee employment to any student as a result of Purchasing and attending any of its training courses. However A.G.E Training will where possible do its best to assist students that attend courses to find suitable employment. This will depend on suitability of the student to a client’s requirement, and whether or not there are any vacancies. A.G.E reserve the right to select candidates for interviews with its clients or refuse to forward information regarding employment opportunities to any student who has purchased one or more of its courses. This applies to all courses run by A.G.E Training Ltd.

I had the same expwerience with AGETRAIN. They are a big con. Wante3d me to pay almost £200.00 for the course before being interviewed for physiotherapy assistant. I knew instantly it was a con. Also spoke to guy called Mo and Chelsi. We should report these people to the relevant authority. I decided to do the course with someone else and paid £55.00. Went back to AGETRAIN and they said that Mo had left and could not trace my application.

Ladies and Gents, first and foremost thank you very much for documenting your experience here!

I've been approached by AGE-Train myself by a person called Sheikh telling me that he was highly interested in my CV and that I should also pursue their 2 courses since applicants are at 'first priority' when it comes down to signing up for the courses.

Secondly, please do not be fooled recruitment staff at AGE-Train are very word savvy, very good at reverse psychology and emotionally manipulative by being able to create a sense of urgency that you should pay up ASAP and be forwarded right away to the employer.

Keep away from these guys at all costs, they are professional con-artists who know a few loop-holes in employment laws and legislations.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!

AGE Train, A.G.E. Training, AGE Medical or AGE Recruitment...whatever they may be calling themselves these days, rest assured that this so called "training company" that "helps" people back into work is nothing more than a con, a scam, a lie.

They have no jobs and they have no clients. How do I know this? Well I have applied for over 100 jobs advertised by AGE and have received a platitude of calls from their so call “Consultants” and it always ends the same way – a guaranteed interview or job providing my “Manuel Handling” and / or “First Aid” certificates are up to date. My Manuel Handling and first aid certs are up to date so coupled with my industry experience I should be certain to secure an interview right? Wrong - despite the assurances given by AGE staff I have never had an interview with a potential employer organised by them.

It is my belief that AGE are no more a recruitment agency than they are a credible training company.

Nothing is more frustrating than being accused of something you didn't do. We process many job applicants daily and unfortunately cannot respond to everyone (especially when not invited for interview). Completing a training course does not guarantee an interview or job. It is mutually beneficial for all parties involved to find medical professionals work.

For more information on AGE and our services please contact us at [email protected]

It seems like they have now changed to Age Medical. They are still ripping people off, however they have stopped using Gumtree.

What a joke! Charging for courses at over inflated prices, and not being able to guarantee a job for a role which does not require any experience, how pathetic is that?

Their sales agents earn commission from the course charges, it's funny how if your already have the certificates they will not contact you.

Have a look at their facebook and twitter and it is obvious they are an unprofessional company. I was unfortunate enough to have Jade Singh.

I have completed my training in the recently. Well I have to say how the hell can anyone be expected to perform manual handling techniques on anybody when there i no practical work in the training. You courses are an absolute disgrace. In my previous job I was paid for all of my training it was decent and done very professionaly. Plus we always got a free lunch. You don't even serve tea and coffee! People pay all that money and you can't even provide them with a hot drink!
How can you expct people to go out and perfom manua handling properly when they hve only seen it on a powerpoint presentation through pictures an words! What a joke! I remember my manual handling was a full day with practical and theory based work, each of us in turn learning how to use the hoists properly.
The CPR was ok, but it was all very rushed. Yet again. My advice to anyone is to go and get recognised certificate from St. John Ambulance. They are the best people to do the courses with. It'a shame I forgot at the time. I was just so desperate for a job I fell for the very complimentary Lorraine. Lets ses if she pulls through and actually finds me a job. She told me that she only gets paid if she gets me a job. wel by the looks of all these messages the staff can't be getting paid very much. Or is that bull and the £4000.00 appx. they make on there session is actually giving them a nice packet.
Another thing I can't understand is if they specialise in training etc. then why are they using freelance trainers!
If you realy want to get into the caring profession the best way to start is in the nursing/residential homes. 75% of staff in homes now have to have NVQ or whatever they call it now level 2. This is a legal requirment. The homes provide al your training free of charge mine was. Yes it is starting at the bottom, bu if you are passionate about care it is the easiest and best way to go. Don't listen to these people, thereare plenty of homes and hospitals out there, you just have to put the work in. Difficult but work it.

I thought I uld give you a little insight to what you are in for.

"Manual handling- The course will provide with knowledge of how to lift and move people without causing further injury to your patients and yourself. It also covers equipment that is commonly used in the medical industry. The course has a mixture of practical work and theory work."
ody
For starters - You are NEVER supposed to lift anybody, this may cause injury to yourself and the patients. The suggestion of lifting people proves that this company do not know there stuff.
Secondly- This course clearly states that they will have a mixture of not only theory but also practial work. There was no equipment to be shown, apart from small pictures of some things on the PP. There was no practical work in this wha so ever.
THIS IS A MANUAL HANDLING COURSE!!! How can anybody be expected to tolearn proper manual handling when they are not shown the equipment for real and they are not being taught how to use it. I can't believe that it can even be called manual handling. Anybody has never been trained in this and goes into a job with this certifcae is putting peoples bodies and lifes at risk. This is extreamly dangerous.

"Course Programme:"
• Introduction and course objectives - yes
• Spinal mechanics and awareness -yes (very informative)
• Back injury and back care awareness - Yes the injury was there but the preventitive techniques were notfully demonstrated.
• The law - Yes basic
• Risk assessment - Yes
• Using handling aids and equipment - Nobody was taught how to use this equipment.
• Principles of handling people - no
• Communication and co-operation - we were told the 3 ways to communicate e.g body lang. This was no gone into in much detail.

The couse was in no way value for money and 1 girl walked out 30 minutes early, her certificate was still handed to her. So if you 15minutes late you can't do the course but if you leave early it's ok hmmmm.

CPR– Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, this is a basic life support skill. The course will cover recover position, checking for injuries, mouth-to-mouth and getting the heart restarted. It is an emergency medical procedure for a victim of Cardiac Arrest or in some circumstances respiratory arrest. CPR is unlikely to restart the heart, but rather its purpose is to maintain a flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and the heart. This is essential in delaying tissue death and extending the brief window of opportunity for a possible resuscitation and thus avoids permanent brain damage."

Very informative, looks like a good course apart from I thought it was called the recovery position. someone correct me if I am wrong.

"Course Programme:"
• Introduction to CPR - Yes
• The Aims of First Aid and CPR - Yes
• The Chain of Survival - Very Basic, I don't really recall this.
• Initial Patient Assessment - I suppose
• Emergency Action Plan (DRAB) - In no wa did this comeup in this course
• Action – Unconscious – Breathing, Pulse Present.- I was taught in this that wedon't need to check for a pulse.
• Action – Unconscious – Not breathing - yes
• Action – Conscious – not breathing, airway blocked -yes
• Recovery Position - Yes

The course was very fast and it was definatly not engraved in my memory. It felt like the trainer was in a rush the whole time. She was a nice woman though.
