I called this locksmith to unlock my car door. I was quoted $30 over the phone and told an additional charge would be added if it was complicated. The guy shows up in an unmarked car, opens it in less than 30 seconds and charges me $90. I called the dispatcher's number to discuss unethical business practices. She assured me they were a legitimate company and said they were licensed and bonded. When I asked her license number, she said she didn't know it. They have an Associate Locksmiths of America button on their phone book ad. I looked them up on the ALOA site. They are not listed as a member. After much research, I could not find their physical address anywhere. The locksmith had an accent. I asked where he was from. He said he was an Israeli. I googled all this information and discovered there is a huge scam perpetrated by a group of Israelis who are recruited to come over here on tourist visas and use the bait and switch routine for locksmith services. http://www.atlantalocksmiths.com/baltimore-md-locksmith-scam/

This is a serious problem that is happening all over the United States. They WILL state they are bonded and a member of Aloa and it is fraudulant. You can protect yor self by first being aware that real locksmiths due not have a $29.00 dollar price to unlock your car. This in unethical due to the price of gas as well as most of these vehicles require certain tools to get in them. Alot of your scammers will be in an umarked vehicle and will give you an incorrect quote the time you call. They will also claim that your hardware has to be drilled being it is too difficult to pick. This is untrue. True locksmiths can pick a lock with no problem and all, unless it is high security or damaged. What is really sad is many people think they are getting a real Locksmith when in fact they are gfetting a handy man that is Isrealian and basic info on what needs to be done. The phone numbers provided are being dispatched from out of State and the person coming to you can charge any fee they like. My Company McTyre Lock & Safe has to go out on several calls after they have either damamged property, or taken the locks with them being the customer refused to pay their bill of $890.00 to rekey 1 lock. I recommend if you feel you have been scammed contact the BBB, contact your credit ard Comapny and disoute the charges, file a police report. The more you do can make it harder for these people to stay in business. I also recommend that you lock for a physical address and google it. It will show you the business and their location.
