Please be aware that this property has oil contamination. When I requested to see the house, the agent conveniently only showed me one side of this side-by-side duplex. That's because on the other side you could smell the distinctive odor of heating oil. I made an offer on this short sale, and continuously attempted to see the other side. Once the bank agreed on a price, we proceeded with inspections. We discovered 2 oil tanks from under the porch had been removed without permits. I had a company come out to test the soil and discovered the contamination levels were extremely high at over 11,000 parts. Worst of all it is right by the foundation of the house and is presumably under neath. To access this with the proper equipment for soil remediation could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. This all could have been avoided had the agent properly disclosed the situation. The home owner was aware of this and I am pretty certain that the agent did too. Sure enough it is relisted today with no mention of the contamination. I am reporting it to the DEP today.
