I received a phone call from Dorothy from YMS on Monday March the 7th. She stated that I had entered my name in a contest to get a rebate card to a list of places that she would send me on thursday, which would be March 10th. She told me I would have to give her my debit card number and they would deduct $8.93 for processing. I would receive some magazines to choose from and if I did not want them could call the 866 number and cancel at any time. I tried to call the customer service number to find out where my package was and I would get a recording every time and the mail box would be full so I could not leave a message. I finally received my package on thursday March 24th with one magazine in it, a letter and a sheet to fill out and send in to get my rebate card. I checked my bank account and they took out an additional $24.95 for the magazine subscription on March 21st which the letter stated they would deduct every month. I can't get in touch with these people to cancel. I have not sent my request for the rebate card yet, I don't know what to do. How can I get out of this, Help!

I cancelled within the 14 days and so far have not received any more contact from them and my account has not been charged again-yet anyhow. I have not received any magazines either.

I was contacted and told I would only have to pay the 8.95 for shipping and handling and that the magazines were free to me. After a period of 3 mths I would be able to continue my subscription or cancel and pay nothing more and that I was entered in a contest. Later [about 3 mths later, Oct 3-13] I was being called repeatedly by "800 Service" [live w/ my gma whom I care for, so she answers all calls] and on the 13th the woman on the hpone told me I owed her 250$'s for magazine subscriptions. I told her to cancel my account because I never agreed to that cost. She then told me not only did I agree, and that she WAS a manager, but that my account can not be canceled because I am "under contract" and that I CALLED THEM [total crock of ****]. I am filing a complaint with the FTC today.

These scamming idiots didn't even have the courtesy to try to rip me off directly. I had filled out surveys, so someone called me saying my survey qualified me for a $100 visa card. I would just need to give them what I was ASSURED was a one time payment for magazines. I agreed and then I got sent a letter saying I had signed up for a service! No, I didn't. I never received the card. These magazine companies are deceptive and illegal.

A similar thing happened to me just this week. I completed a survey online and was given a number to call in order to claim my $100 gift card. When calling the number(1-888-835-8711) I was greated by a woman who called herself Fay. She told me I would be charged $28.11, a one time charge, for the shipping/handling of my gift card plus 5 magazines. She then proceeded to a speedy ramble and I wound up with an additional charge of $33.26 for some club called "Buyer's Choice". I called the customer service number(1-855-213-8752) to complain and try to get my $33.26 credited back to my check card. I got the run around. The first time I called customer service, a man who called himself Tony Gonzalez, answered, put me on hold to review my recorded conversation with Fay. While on hold, I got 'disconnected'. So I called back and a girl who called herself Joyce answered my call. Played the recorded conversation for me, which not the entire conversation was recorded, and directed me to her supervisor, back to Tony, after I had requested to speak to the supervisor. Tony tells me there's no way I'm gonna get my money back because he listened to the recorded conversation and he states that I "clearly agreed to the charges". HA! With how fast Fay was talking there's no way Tony heard anything 'clearly'!! I then asked to talk to Tony's supervisor and get directed to a girl who called herself Kristen. She told me all the same things. When I asked to talk to her supervisor, she said, "I don't have a supervisor." So I obtained an address(3700 Mansell Rd., Ste 220, Alpharetta, GA, 3002) in order to send a complaint letter. I googled the address and found a phone number (1-770-992-1500). When I called the number a woman answered inquiring on how to direct my call. I told her that I was calling for the "Your Magazine Source" and she told me that the business only has a mail box there. That "YMS" has no offices there nor any personnel working there. She had no information as to where the mail went to once the Post Office picked it up. I've emailed a complaint to the BBB, I've written my complaint letter and it's in the mail. I've contacted my bank and informed them of the situation at hand. I don't know if I'll get the $100 card or not. I just talked to them on 10/25/11. If anyone gets anything resolved with these people, please post it so the rest of us have a way to get our money back as well.

I received the same call from a "Kevin, " with an employee ID of 3142, last Thursday. The call came from 877-536-3167. He stated that I had won a $500 VISA gift card from a survey I had completed "back in March" of this year. He stated that FedEx would arrive with the card, and it is Federal Regulations that I pay the postage of $1.87. He stated the amount of $1.87 would be charged after I sign for the FedEx package. I grilled the man for 15-20 minutes, who assured me that it was a legitimate winning, and had an answer for everything. Nothing was mentioned about a magazine subscription, and he stated that the entire conversation was being recorded. He had my full name, my phone number (obviously), my address, etc. I reluctantly gave the man my debit card number, knowing that I could refuse any charge that wasn't legitimate (I have a wonderful bank!). He gave me a pre-authorization code of 041768, and a phone number of 855-213-8752...which I was to call within 30 days to confirm receipt. He also stated that I would receive a courtesy call within 3-5 business days from him to make sure I had received it. Soon after I disconnected from "Kevin, " I began monitoring my account online. Immediately, there was a charge of $24.89 and an 800# in the memo line. When I called the number, it was a recording for a "Talk Live!!" with no option to speak to a person...and promptly disconnected. The bank took care of the charge, and I completed an affidavit against the company.

As of today, I still haven't received the card, however, I called the number he gave me (855-213-8752). I woman answered, and she had my information as well. She stated they are a magazine company, and was extremely rude!! I tried explaining to her what this "Kevin" had told me, and gave her all of the numbers and information he had given me. She was very hateful and short with me, and accused me of screaming at her, which I did NOT do. I do not behave that way, although by the time she started screaming at me I was ready to ring her neck. She also began mocking me when I told her I wanted this man dealt with so he couldn't do this to someone else. It was a very unpleasant experience. Please understand, I'm not upset that I didn't receive the promised $500. That isn't what this is about. I am beyond aggravated that this company is out there doing this to people, and many would not be able to combat this and get their money back. Furthermore, when you call back and are treated like this woman conducted herself?? Uncalled for.
