I completed a survey online and was contacted by Fay, a sales representative for "your magazine source". In our conversation Fay was friendly but when our conversation reached the part for her to start selling me things, her speech sped up and her words were unclear. I did agree to a $28.11 charge for 5 magazines which I thought was necessary for me to received a $100 gift card for completing the previously mentioned survey. A couple days later, I noticed a charge of $33.26 to my account which I did not approve. I contacted "your magazine source" by calling 1-855-213-8752, the customer service number given to me when on the phone with Fay. My call was answered by a man named Tony. I shared with him the reason for my call and was put on hold for him to review the recorded conversation between Fay and I. While on hold, the call was disconnected. So I called back and Joyce answered my call. I shared the reason for my call with her and ultimately was informed that there was absolutely no way for me to get the $33.26 refunded because in listening to the recorded conversation between Fay and I, Joyce stated, "You agreed for the charge of $33.26". I was played the recorded conversation and still did not hear anything remotely similar to what I'm being told that I agreed to. I asked to speak to the supervisor. I was then directed to Tony, the one whom I was disconnected from the first time I called. In speaking with him, I'm told the same thing, that there is absoluetly no way for me to get refunded the $33.26 charge that I did not authorize. I ask to speak to his suervisor and I am directed to Kristen who proceeds to tell me the same thing. I obtain the address of "Your Magazine Source" from Kristen in order for me to write a complaint letter. Which I fully intend on doing. The address given to me is: 3700 Mansell Rd, Suite 220, Alpharetta, GA 30022. |

I received a call at work from someone named Lisa advising me I had won a gift card of over $100 because I had completed a survey. She asked me five questions, which I answered, then talked about magazines and explained that in order for me to receive the gift card I had to pay the Fed Ex charges which were $28.11 and I would be provided with a tracking number and the card would be delivered in two days and would need to be signed for. She also indicated that I would receive five magazines to preview but I was under no obligation to purchase anything. She then asked me for my debit card, credit card, or pre paid card to pay for the shipping charges. I questioned why I should pay for a gift I won and she again explained that the card was being delivered FedEx and I just needed to pay for the shipping. She gave me a return phone number of 855-213-8752 and said her extension was 6692 and I had five days to change my mind. I hope no one gets hooked into this scam and that they stop calling my work place and bothering me with this stuff! |

I received the same call from a "Kevin, " with an employee ID of 3142, last Thursday. The call came from 877-536-3167. He stated that I had won a $500 VISA gift card from a survey I had completed "back in March" of this year. He stated that FedEx would arrive with the card, and it is Federal Regulations that I pay the postage of $1.87. He stated the amount of $1.87 would be charged after I sign for the FedEx package. I grilled the man for 15-20 minutes, who assured me that it was a legitimate winning, and had an answer for everything. Nothing was mentioned about a magazine subscription, and he stated that the entire conversation was being recorded. He had my full name, my phone number (obviously), my address, etc. I reluctantly gave the man my debit card number, knowing that I could refuse any charge that wasn't legitimate (I have a wonderful bank!). He gave me a pre-authorization code of 041768, and a phone number of 855-213-8752...which I was to call within 30 days to confirm receipt. He also stated that I would receive a courtesy call within 3-5 business days from him to make sure I had received it. Soon after I disconnected from "Kevin, " I began monitoring my account online. Immediately, there was a charge of $24.89 and an 800# in the memo line. When I called the number, it was a recording for a "Talk Live!!" with no option to speak to a person...and promptly disconnected. The bank took care of the charge, and I completed an affidavit against the company.
As of today, I still haven't received the card, however, I called the number he gave me (855-213-8752). I woman answered, and she had my information as well. She stated they are a magazine company, and was extremely rude!! I tried explaining to her what this "Kevin" had told me, and gave her all of the numbers and information he had given me. She was very hateful and short with me, and accused me of screaming at her, which I did NOT do. I do not behave that way, although by the time she started screaming at me I was ready to ring her neck. She also began mocking me when I told her I wanted this man dealt with so he couldn't do this to someone else. It was a very unpleasant experience. Please understand, I'm not upset that I didn't receive the promised $500. That isn't what this is about. I am beyond aggravated that this company is out there doing this to people, and many would not be able to combat this and get their money back. Furthermore, when you call back and are treated like this woman conducted herself?? Uncalled for. |
