As a long time student of Jerry Yarnell, a Fine Art professional instructor, I am outraged his lifelong work is being hijacked by an EX family member and ex staff members who are selling Jerry's OLD outdated instructional videos from his very popular PBS TV series. When people/artists do a Google Internet search and contact the site which claims to be the official Jerry Yarnell site, Dianne and her staff are pretending to be Jerry Yarnell as they take people's money for purchases of DVD of Jerry's instructional classes, books he wrote, and other supplies like paints and brushes. When people ask to reach Jerry directly they lie and will not give out his current information. Jerry is going strong and still producing awesome classes which have helped me become a great artist. I was fooled for over a year because I had no way of knowing the old site was no longer Jerry Yarnells site, because it was stolen from him. Jerry Yarnell is the artist and what they are doing should be against the law, maybe it is. The REAL official site for Jerry Yarnell IS: http://yarnellschool.com, (not yarnellart.com)
The REAL official Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jerry-Yarnell-Yarnell-Studio-School-of-Fine-Art-LLC/379206402152?ref=ts I sent Dianne money for supplies before I learned the truth. I'm ticked off. She lied. She is even telling people Jerry Yarnell died. OMG!!! Jerry is a wonderful man, a walking talking Christian, and thousands of artists have learned amazing techniques from his great style of teaching, and those ex employees need to be stopped. This has gone on for years. Enough is enough. Jerry Yarnell and his wonderful wife Donna are apparently trying to take the high road, but I was ripped off and I'm setting the record strait.

You're an idiot. Jerry sold them that business 3 years ago. Scott is Jerry's brother. An EX family member? stole the business? Stop being a drama queen. As long as you recieved the items you payed for, you DIDN'T get ripped off. It's no different than buying branded supplies from any other art supplies dealer. If anything is illegal, it's your libel/defamation against yarnellart. You're not setting anything straight... you're spewing nonsense. I also wouldn't call denying any connection to www.yarnellart.com honest, christian like or taking the high road.

There's obviously a family rift, but as long as I get what I pay for, It's not my or your business.

Wow. Just saw this page. I’m 71 years old and love Jerry Yarnell. I too became frustrated after calling and trying to find Jerry and being told no information exists on his workshops. I wonder would you consider telling people that Jerry is very ill and denying callers his new phone number “high road?” I’d deny any connection too to a business that is obviously greedy and out to sabotage me in every way except to keep capitalizing on monies reaped from my artistic talents. Praise the Lord that Jerry saw the light!

What does being 71 have to do with anything?? I have green eyes! Does that add weight to my point of view?? Jerry is an amazing artist, there's no denying that, and If those things indeed did happen, it would certainly be unfortunate & very unprofessional. But I haven't experienced anything like that. Consider it's a very personal family feud. There's got to be plenty of hurt & anger on both sides. What used to be brothers & partners are now competing businesses. Neither side are likely to send customers to the other guy. Don't make judgements based on hearsay & what appears to be a crazy person posting over the top rambling attacks full of obvious lies, like the original poster.

Praise the lord?? Is that what YOUR lord wants? For families to break up and fight and bicker? People like you are everything that's wrong with religion. You use it as a crutch to feel superior while you look down upon & judge others. Where's the kindness, the forgiveness & love that's supposed to be the basis of religion? The do unto others as you'd have them do unto to you? Or is that only when it's convenient & suits your needs? Were you aware that Jerry & Scott's mother has worked for Yarnellart for 10 years? Do you include her as "Ex family" & "Ex Staff"? One of the thieves that "stole" the business & website & "hijacked" His life work?

The business was SOLD to Scott & his wife. That means Jerry received payment for the business, the website & the products they sell. Which means Jerry benefitted & profited from his work as he should. By your logic, any business that sells other peoples products, are stealing & ripping customers off!? Ridiculous! Why aren't you accusing & harassing Amazon.com or Barns & Noble of stealing Jerry's profits & fame?? They sell his books too.

Yarnellart.com OWNs the rights to the DVDs of the Original TV series, which is named "Jerry Yarnell School of Fine Art", & therefore the right to advertise it under that name. Jerry admits that much himself! If Jerry had a legal leg to stand on and the business was "stolen" as you seem to like to spout, Yarnellart would have been demolished. The fact that they still exist and haven't been shut down should tell you something.

Since when are 10 year old art instructions outdated & worthless? Would you say that if they were listed on the new site? There's a lot of value in those DVDs & instructions, unless your being bitter & hateful & attempting to sabotage someone's legitimate livelihood. I've seen more evidence of sabotage on the "new sites" from "supporters" like you. Petty, vindictive & hateful... & what's even more disgusting is you try to do it all in the name of your god & religion. Straight from your bible is it? Destroy thy neighbour? Cast judgment & turn a convenient blind eye? Seek revenge & vigilante justice?

I've received great service from Yarnellart.com & will continue to buy from them if there's products there I want. I would encourage anyone else to do the same. Just use a little logic & common sense. Jerry is an amazing painter and instructor & I will continue purchasing his materials to make myself a better painter, from either site until either one gives me a reason not to. I just think it's ridiculous that you'd go around posting such negativity, encouraging a feud between brothers & family. Get a hobby! Try Painting :)

I would think anyone watching Jerry Yarnell on TV and students any who have been to his amazing workshops and received one-on-one painting lessons would want "JERRY" to receive any profit from any purchases made. Jerry is the artist, Jerry is the instructor, Jerry is the one the students want to connect with.

It seems to me that if all of the individuals who have become wonderful artists because of Jerry's lessons would support his ongoing career, then he will be able to continue airing the TV shows to reach even more students. The selfish part of me really wants to ensure that I will be able to watch Jerry on tv for years to come and of course I believe he should be paid for all his hard work!

We all know that PBS does not have the funding to pay for the shows, and the donations they receive goes back to their own station, not to Jerry. Right? Having owned my own business in the past, and understanding the economy we are facing today, I think it is very important that we support Jerry any way we can, more now than ever. Whether our support is thru his workshops or dvd purchases made from his NEW website www.yarnellschool.com or calling the PBS networks to make sure they air his new program "Paint This with Jerry Yarnell" I think it is vitally important for his students to understand this.

His income comes from his students who love him and have learned to paint from "him". If someone wants to purchase an older DVD, then great do so, but they should also be able to make an informed purchase. Jerry has a bunch of new paintings, and I will personally only be buying the new ones which absolutely ARE his best culmination of 30 years worth of creating Fine Art.

The issue described above by the poster is one I can speak to and vouch for. Diane Yarnell from yarnellArt lied to me personally last year AND would not tell me how to reach Jerry. I've been told by other students too about the lies they were told by those who now run his former business. I would not be interested in purchasing DVDs or anything else from individuals who resort to such poor business practices. That is wrong.

For students who want to find and support Jerry, he and his wife Donna have produced an incredible series called PAINT THIS WITH JERRY YARNELL. It's airing on PBS and BYUTV on satelite, cable...both DirectTV and Dish Network. On Jerry's facebook page https://www.facebook.com/YarnellSchool anyone can see how hard he has been working on his new Online art School and lots of other neat stuff you can read about too.

I've received so much from Jerry for years, by learning so much from him that I feel I owe it to him to support him any way that I can even if it's in the form of just a note to share my viewpoint. I hope his students can understand that I'm just a devoted fan trying all in my power to help Jerry and his new business remain a success! He needs and as earned our support!

To be clear, the ONLY official website for Jerry Yarnell today in 2011 forward is:... http://yarnellschool.com

His ONLY Facebook page is:... https://www.facebook.com/YarnellSchool

Any other sites out there may have his pictures, his older painting classes, but those sites will not lead you to Jerry Yarnell himself, and any DVD or other purchases will not support the artist we all love and admire. Just be sure you are going to the right location if you're trying to connect with Jerry Yarnell.

If you read the posts above from Ou812 and BilboBaggins, it's pretty easy to see they are one in the same. The language is the same, the style of writing, even the drama. I would go as far to guess that it's one of the old Yarnell camp it's self.
I was indeed lied to by this bunch..and... No friends, Jerry Yarnell is not sick.. he's alive and well in Shiatook, Oklahoma.
The fact is that if a buisness has to lie to, and maniuplate it's customers, then it's worthless. It WILL fall.
There are not just a few people with the same story.. they contacted yarnell art / they were lied to.
There ya go.. make up your mind who you want to do business with:
The actual Jerry, or the liars.

My name is Scott Yarnell. Jerry Yarnell is my brother. Jerry sold me his art business almost 4 years ago.
My wife Diane and I worked for Jerry for 9 years before purchasing the business. All we have done since purchasing the business is run it the same way we did for Jerry. There are many, many companies who sell Jerry Yarnell art materials and we are one of them. We are not obligated to send customers to our competition and we certainly don't expect them to send customers to us. It is a free market society and we understand that Jerry has many loyal fans. We respect their right to spend their money where they choose.
We do not however respect those fans who feel they are endearing themselves to Jerry by slandering our good name.

I am pleased to discover that I ordered from Jerry's website today and not from Scott's. Part of what "Vecapa1" (who claims to be Scott in the text) says is true. Companies sell Jerry Yarnell's products. Michael's, for example, is a local store that sells a Yarnell book. They have license to sell legitimate products associated with Jerry Yarnell. So does Scott's business. However, Michael's makes no claim to be the "official" site. That would be misleading, because it would imply a special relationship with Jerry Yarnell. Scott's website claims to be the "official and original website". It is the original site. But, "official " is misleading to consumers because the "Jerry Yarnell School of Fine Art" is no longer "official" in the sense that consumers rightly expect.

Vecapa1's answer concerning the imperatives of competition seems to seek to justify lying to customers about the health, condition or existence of Jerry Yarnell's current business. Vecapa1 does not deny that such incidents took place, but rather falls back on the "free market society" saw to justify indirectly whatever behavior is implied. This is not ethical. Jerry Yarnell has no right to destroy the value of what Scott bought from him and this is usually covered in the form of a "do not compete" clause in such sales of existing businesses. Scott has no right to intrude on and mislead the public concerning his association with his brother, and this is usually covered in restrictions on use of likenesses, trademarks, the word "official" and so forth. Both brothers have valuable businesses, but both have apparently made business mistakes in the sale that can lead to a great enrichment of lawyers and years of litigation.

Knock it off, boys! I would recommend strongly that each side get his own legitimate and ethical lawyer experienced in business matters - attorneys who work on a fee basis and not on contingency of settlement size, need I say - and sort things out now. Tell your lawyer what you want for yourself and for the other side and then let the attorneys settle it with a lot less emotion than may be going on now. The money you spend now for that will be good for me. I can with a good conscience buy past materials from Scott and current material from Jerry and feel the love coming from the people with whom I do business.

Oh, and for stupid ol' BilboBaggins above: people often mention their advanced years because older people become very emotional about their relationships - it's part of getting old - and because they are signaling their right to a certain amount of respect and deference from younger people. People simply possessing green eyes do not ordinarily have such claim on the rest of us.
