X10.com X10.com - bad software Las Vegas, Nevada |

I purchased some X10.com cameras and software to run the cameras. I called and emailed tech support over and over and still don't have the software running and X10.com refuses to give me my money back because I've been trying to get it to work for more than 30 days! The two biggest problems X10.com was never able to resolve: Vanguard software: is a memory hog and brings my PC to it knees. To get the cameras to function I had to run it on the same PC as Active Home Pro. Now all the macros that were working in Active Home Pro no longer work because of Vanguard. According to other users on the X10.com forum they've never been able to get Vanguard to work. MyHome software: I have a webserver running on port 80 and found out after many hours trying to get MyHome to work that it must use port 80. X10.com gives no way to configure the software to use any other port. My suggestion - don't buy MyHome if you are running a webserver on port 80. So here I am stuck with cameras and software that don't work and X10.com support won't work with me nor will the company refund my money. BUYER BEWARE !!!!! |

I have bought aproxx. $ 1000.00 of x10 products over the last 5-6 years, last year I installed Windows 7 and then nothing worked. I phoned x10 they said I had to buy a new video capture device as the one that worked with XP would not work with Win.7 O.K. I spent another $ 110.00 to get the newstye video capture device. still not working I phoned and got an appointment for Aug 12 2011 a one week delay for a" Level two " technician to call me at exactly 4.30 pm Pacific time, I had an appointment with my doctor for the same time which I cancelled. I sat at my computer and my phone from 3.55 untill 5.30 pm and then sent x10 an e-mail saying that I was totally disappointed with their product and service, especially as i HAD WAITED FOR A WEEK AND CANCELLED MY DOCTORS APPOINTMENT TO BE HOME AT THEIR SPECIFIED TIME.No apolagise or explanation nothing. I am going to get rid of this stuff and buy a differant camera setup. Harry Skates |

I ordered a TV A/V transmitter from X10. They (Mia) called me the next day saying it was out of stock (even though they continue to advertise it on their web site) and did I want to pay an additional $10.00 for the upgraded model. I told them NO I would wait for what I ordered to be in stock. Within the hour they went ahead and shipped the order that I clearly told them I did not want as it would not work with my older TV. When I got it I called them to return it and they told me I had to pay to return it. I informed them that as I did not order it and specifically told them I did not want it, that I would NOT pay to return it. Under the law as they sent it via U.S. Mail and I did not order it, I could keep it for free AND get a refund from my bank. They then sent me a FedEx pre-paid return label. They also confirmed that they received it back but they never refunded the charge. I placed it in to dispute with the bank and sent the bank the return confirmation from FedEx. Once X10's bank gets enough charge backs from them, they will suspend their ability to accept Visa as payment any longer and this will put this dishonest rip off company out of business. I also filed a complaint with the New Jersey, Washington State (their web site's listed/registered home office) and the California Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protections and Frauds. This company does not deserve to do business and we all need to make sure they do not rip off others by complaining to all of the proper government and banking authorities. |
