Wilshire Consumer Credit Complete scam..High Interest rate 75%, Internet |
25th of Jan, 2011 by |
In November 2008 my husband and I took out a title loan from Wilshire Consumer Credit in Californiafor $3000 towards my 2003 Mitsubishi Montero that my father left me when he passed away that same year. At the time we were homeless, living out of the car and needed cash bad. We found a Wilshire that was willing to do this loan and we thought we were so blessed to find this place to give us some cash so our family could possibly get back on our feet. Long story short.
Here we are in January of 2011 and I have been making regular payments totaling over $3500. However, my balance is $3572. I have called several times and spoke to several people at Wilshire requesting my original contract and NOoNE will give it to me. Everytime they say it is in the mail, but it NEVER comes. I have also filed a complaint with BBB. I am furious. A class action lawsuit should be filed against this company. What they are doing should be illegal. They take COMPLETE advantage of the consumer. It is UNFAIR and should be against the law. If you are thinking of doing any business with this company, please DO NOT. Beware of Wilshire Consumer Credit. STAY AWAY!!!

Hi. I just submitted a comment earlier, but I don't know if it is in the process of being approved or if it just didn't post because I had to confirm my account first; once I confirmed it, it took me back to the posting and my comment wasn't there, so I will submit again. Sorry if you're getting the same message twice.
ANYWAY. I am VERY sorry you went through this with them! I just started working them a week ago, and I must say, I am SHOCKED by their practices! When I first got the job there, I thought, awesome, a job at a collections agency. I thought we were just supposed to call, ask for payments, etc. However, it is so much more horrible than anyone can imagine! The interest rates are exorbitantly high, which I recently learned is the case with the typical car title loan. That's the nature of the business, fine. But the company culture is just as ugly as usury! The people are so rude, so ghetto, they listen to their rap, salsa, and reggeaton pretty loud in the office; they are so mean to customers over the phone, the very same people to whom we owe our job in the first place.
As for the documents you never received, I can tell you why. Well, one of the people training me-- a bald guy who didn't even graduate high school-- told me that when a customer "pisses him off" with an "attitude, " and they request documents, he won't send it to them. He'll tell them he will, but laughs and never does. When they call back, he tells them, "I sent it to you, ma'am! It got lost in the mail, maybe, not our fault." I can't believe he's allowed to train people this way! The supervisor allows this, too. He says they work long, stressful days and that it's good to have a little fun. The supervisor is just as ghetto. He tried to give me a high five as a form of greeting. I looked at him shocked and confused, and shook his hand the way normal human beings do in business. Oh man. I have a BA, but it's such a bad economy I am stuck here. I promise you I will be much nicer than they are, for as long as there. You can be certain, though, that I am looking for another job! This place is soooo not me. I feel shame that the company I work for has harmed so many people. Worse, that when confronted, they say, "Well, the customer signed the contract! It was their fault for not considering the high interest rates." Yuck. |
