On December 20th, 2010, I had an appointment
for my 2000 Hyundai Sonata for its state inspection and to get the inside panel
of the passenger's side door put back on at Williamsburg Honda. After I left
the dealership I noticed that part of the passenger's side door handle's cover
had been broken and now more than half of the cover's lip was missing. I had
not been informed of any damage to my car and was very surprised when I saw it.
I went back to the dealership to speak to Jeffery Miller, who had been handling
my car.

He at first said that the door handle had already been
broken when I came in and when I insisted that it wasn't he claimed that the
cover had been severely cracked and had broken off during the process of
replacing the door panel. He was not at all apologetic about the damage to my
car and on the contrary insisted that it was not their fault and they were not
to be held responsible for the damage. He came up with no methods of rectifying
the situation and when he offered to let me speak to the service manager I was
so infuriated that I declined. Mr. Miller allowed me to leave the lot, clearly
upset without fixing the problem.

I spoke with my fianc, the person who had originally
removed the door panel, and he verified that the cover was in no way cracked or
damaged after he had removed the panel. The mechanic broke my door handle and
instead of replacing it or even alerting me of the damage, I was told that it
was my fault and there was nothing that could be done.

A few days later I discovered some insulation and a foam
block that was supposed to be replaced with the door panel to be sitting in my
back seat. I had not been informed that the insulation and foam wasn't
replaced. In order to correctly install the panel I will have to remove the
interior door panel, replace the foam and insulation then install it all over
again.

I contacted the service manager, Paul Catalano, about
both of these problems. He said he would mail me a replacement part for the
door handle cover, but refused
to refund my money for the reinstallation of the door panel ($38.47). He was
very rude and condescending and gave me three reasons for not refunding my
money.

1. The mechanic didn't see the foam and insulation.
This is know is untrue because the insulation was still partly attached to the
door panel when I took it in and the foam block was sitting right on top of the
panel, where I had placed it myself. There is no way anyone could have missed
the insulation and foam. Also, if the mechanic didn't see it, then how did the
foam block end up sitting on my back seat wrapped in the now completely removed
insulation, both in plain view?

2. I had not informed them that I had located the
insulation and foam until several days later. This is because I did not notice.
I thought I had taken my car to professionals and had no idea I was supposed to
search the entire vehicle to see if they had done their job properly

3. On their service order it said to only replace
the door panel. Because I did not specifically tell them that I wanted the foam
and insulation replaced with it, Mr. Catalano claimed that they were not under
any obligation to do it. I pointed out to him that the foam and insulation are
part of the door panel and in order to properly install it, these had to be
included in the installation. When I informed him that this poor argument was
nothing but malicious compliance I was met with a rude response and the
continued refusal to refund my money.

Since
my reasonable request for my money back after a job was not done properly and will
now have to be completely redone was ignored I was left with no option but to
file a complaint.
