WHO BLACKPOOL
WHO BLACKPOOL Whoblackpool, Thieves, Liars and Fraudsters - Who Blackpool are a terrible online scam organisation Blackpool, United Kingdom
12th of Nov, 2010 by User441646

At the end of 2009 I purchased several items from Who Blackpool through their online store www.whoblackpool.com totalling 74.95. These were meant for Christmas gifts but as the end of December got closer Catherine Simpson, co-owner of the shop, contacted me to tell me that the stock hadn't come in yet. I agreed to wait, but every time I spoke to Cathy it was the same story.Eventually Christmas passed and after giving a very fair amount of time to Who Blackpool to deliver the goods, I requested a refund. Cathy told me she would provide it, but after waiting and waiting for it to appear in my Paypal account, it never did. I realised she had dragged the order to the point where you can't make a claim through Paypal so I couldn't get my money back through there.
I telephoned several times and got more and more angry. Every day I was told it would be processed by the 'refund department' - a department which I now know doesn't exist. Refunds are processed by the two store owners only, Catherine Simpson and David Simon.
After several phone calls and many emails I gave up and reported the company to trading standards after discovering the reputation they had on the internet. Apparently this form of fraud is something they practice willingly and carefully and it has affected many people worldwide.
David Simon and Catherine Simpson have a system of fraud that works like this:
The Who Blackpool systemOnline purchases are made. Some are fulfilled, others are not. If they don't send your item, they don't send your money back either.
Who Blackpool Paypal FraudIn 2010, they stopped accepting Paypal. This is because it's easier to steal via cheque and postal order than Paypal. Prior to 2010, they would either drag the order out to the point where a claim could not be made, or in the event a claim was opened use a much nastier tactic. As one buyer on the internet noted, Who Blackpool sent him and empty envelope by Recorded Delivery with Royal Mail. He signed for the empty envelope not realising who it was from, and they used the proof of signature to show Paypal the goods had been delivered. The customer lost the Paypal claim and his money.
Raising Their Internet ProfileWho Blackpool don't actually have, from investigation, a single genuinely positive review on the internet. There are plenty of negatives, but all the positives left on sites like Reviewcentre.com are false and left by the shop owners. This may not be so obvious if it wasn't for the use of language. Try as they might, it's incredibly obvious when examining the content that all of the positive reviews are written by exactly the same person (and so are the comments they leave to the negative reviews.)On the flip side, they also spend a lot of time contacting webmasters of review sites to report negative reviews, claiming they are in a 'legal case' due to 'harassment', which is a load of rubbish of course. The webmasters sometimes agree to remove negative reports, falsely raising the company's profile, but they are finally getting wise to Who Blackpool's actual reputation and aren't agreeing to comply anymore. This happened when they contacted the site admin on the imperialgunnery forum (a Star Wars memorabilia site) to have the thread about their scamming deleted. The admin investigated and refused in light of the evidence against them. How They Try to Avoid ProsecutionDespite being reported to Trading Standards by several people, including myself, Who Blackpool think they have a foolproof way of avoiding prosecution. Every year, they register a new company name that has ownership of Who Blackpool as a store. This costs around 20.They then place the previous company into 'insolvency', meaning anyone claiming outstanding issues or refunds would need to take it up with that former, now dissolved 'company.'
Since they opened they have changed the company name each year:
2008: KALED LTD2009: ZYGONDAYZ2010: S PARSONS
Each year David Simon and Catherine Simpson switch roles between Director and Secretary, and the year after they switch back again. They also delete the user accounts of anyone who has been ripped off.
This system is not foolproof at all, it's just a very thin cover. If someone decided to sue David Simon and Catherine Simpson as individuals and for fraud, all of the above information would be evidence against them (rather than protection.)
Simply, this is the worst experience I have ever had buying online. In fact, it's the worst experience buying from any retailer of any kind. If you are thinking of buying from Who Blackpool, you'll be placing your money into the hands of bonafide crooks who should have been shut down by the authorities a long time ago.
They are a plague on the figure collector and enthusiast community and after I finally visited the store to confront them, turned out to be a genuinely nasty pair who threatened to 'knock-out' the people I was with for trespassing.Very unpleasant and as you would expect, liars to the end.
For further reading and evidence of all of the above, please feel free to browse these links and do some google searches. Keep an eye out for the fake positives, and please note that some of the content of these links may change over time (as Who Blackpool will try their hardest to alter them:)
Here is a message placed by someone on the 'feedback' section of their Facebook page. Here's a look at it before it gets removed:
