I am a current student at WGU and feel like the reviews on this website inaccurately portray WGU. WGU is an online Non-profit University which was designed to provide students with a great education while saving them on the cost of tuition and time. I have been attending WGU for over a year and very much enjoy it. Currently i am working on my Bachelors degree in Information technology with a Sofware Emphasis. WGU is a school where you can work at your own pace. WGU does require students to complete at least 12 units every 6 months but you can always complete more than that. I currently have completed 36 units in a year with WGU and had 40 credits transfer over from my previous schools and my degree is a total of 121 units. At the school you take one class at a time and as soon as you finish one course you move immediately into your next one. The nice thing about WGU's courses is that they are student directed. You don't have to wait for classmates or teachers to move onto new materials you just move on when you are ready. The learning resources provided to you are great. They provide you with pre-tests to help you determine where you are at in a course, online pre-recorded videos that you work through at your pace, online reading to supplement the videos and even labs and simulations to help you better understand the material you are learning and get some hands on experience. Also at WGU the only required work is the final exam. The nice thing about this is if you currently work in your field of study you will be able to just take the final exam and move on to your next course and you in the long run you will save both time and money. The nicest thing about the program is that you OBTAIN INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS while attending school and it's INCLUDED IN TUITION. So not only will i have my degree when i graduate but also 9-10 industry certifications as well.WGU is both regionally and nationally accredited so if i wanted to change schools i could do so. I recommend this school anyone who looking to finish up their degree. |
