West Corporation Employment Practices and System Internet |

All complaints including short breaks, monitoring and using employees as 'disposable razors' I have seen here at ripoffreport.com are true! West IS NOT where you want to go if you are looking for ethical practices in hiring, training and on the job. What have I seen first hand? In training and on the floor: System X their order processing system on behalf of their client AT&T (Hey BIG 'T': You are indirectly responsible for contract employees at West and your customers ARE suffering for it!) Internal IT is so bad (or likely deliberately bad) that it appears to be used as a tool to 'keep up attrition' (treating employees as 'disposable razors') Because the system is poor/slow requiring the user to maintain 'friendly conversation' with customers to prevent 'dead air time' (which penalizes your bonuses if caught by quality assurance (known as 'The ACE Team') and calculations for proration of customer's first payments must be done in a separate calculator. Compliance with legal disclosure requirements requires lengthy reading of click down information which is NOT prefilled with calculated fees based on products and plans customers order (definitely something that IS possible with a solid IT department. I should know, a close friend was the IT department at a successful retailer and he explained it to me.) Also, having worked a telecenter at Williams Sonoma I know what I'm talking about in comparing order-entry systems. Attrition/treating employees like 'disposable razors' serves West in greatly limiting their costs and just so you know, their medical benefits package is a joke with minimal payments for major events such as hospital stays. For example, West's Medical package would pay only $300 per day per hospital stay and, in the packet they conveniently put the information for where to apply for Medicaid at the bottom of the stack: as a lower wage employee you would be wise to apply for it and use HAWC for medical, dental and vision resources and referrals. PS: Nevada IS and employment 'at will state' so unfortunately the law prevails and anyone who want stable employment who even makes it past 6 months at West better know that the employer can let you go on a whim too. |
